ART EXHIBITION AND CELEBRATION
SAT,OCT 7th 2023
SUNSET-9PM
SUNSET-9PM
You know, we've been working day and night to bring art, culture, and empowerment to our South Phoenix community. And now, we're gearing up for our 7th Annual Ancestral event, a celebration like no other—a place where culture thrives and history comes alive.
But here's the thing: We believe that to truly make an impact, we've got to do right by our artists, our team, and our community, by compensating them fairly for their talents and time. This isn't just about hosting another art event; it's about valuing our roots, our community, and the extraordinary talents that make us who we are.
So, if you believe, like we do, that art has the power to heal, inspire, and unite, then join us. We’re asking for your support to help us pay our community equitably. It's not just about meeting a budget; it's about acknowledging the worth of every individual who contributes to this incredible experience.
Click that donate or sponsor button, reach out to us, get involved. Let's make this Ancestral event not just an event, but a movement—a testament to the power of community.
Thank you, and we can't wait to create something truly spectacular, together.
With heartfelt gratitude, donate
Sam Gomez The Sagrado GalleriaFounded in 2016, The Sagrado Galleria is South Phoenix's premier 501(c)3 nonprofit art gallery, committed to nurturing the community through the transformative power of art, culture, and design. With over 5,000 community members engaged through art shows, workshops, and events, we have garnered recognition such as "Best Latino Art Gallery" (Phoenix New Times, 2021), "Award of Distinction for Environmental Education" (ArizonaForward, 2019), and "Best Community Arts Space" (Phoenix New Times, 2019).
The 7th Annual Ancestral event is a celebration of multicultural artistry that draws upon the strength and wisdom of ancestral heritage. The event serves as a cross-generational dialogue, offering experiential avenues to explore concepts like roots, traditions, and rituals. We believe in enriching our present by paying homage to the teachings of our ancestors.
Objectives:
Build cultural connections between The Sagrado, Audubon Southwest, and The Rio Salado. Foster a deeper relationship between the community members and their local environments. Attract a diverse audience to integrate local arts within the larger Rio Salado and The Sagrado communities. Empower the community through art, culture, and diversity. Facilitate audience engagement with ancestral cultures. Promote and support local artists.
The event will showcase a variety of art forms including but not limited to:
Performance art
Music & Dance Theater
Projections
Poetry
Art exhibitions
All these elements will be tied to the theme of natural elements— water, fire, air, and earth—representing the symbiotic relationship between ancestry and nature.
