1 Keep water at bay Keep all your fashion jewellery and accessories away from water. Known to affect the appearance of metal, stones, crystals and pearls, water can wear plating and cause discolouration. It is best to remove your jewels while washing hands or when going for a shower or swim.
2 Even your jewellery needs a beauty nap
3 Weather withers
Like us, even fashion jewellery needs a beauty nap. To ensure that your jewels are bright and happy, it is best to store the items in a jewellery box. This avoids scratching and any possibility of damage. Ideally, your jewellery box should have large compartments to keep chains, bracelets, etc. to reduce tangling and knotting.
Harsh weather conditions are never friendly. Thus, it is best to keep your jewellery away from direct sunlight. Store items in a plastic jewellery bag to protect it from humidity. Store your precious picks in a cool place.
4 Sparkle and shine Cleansing is one ritual that we should never skip for our jewellery as well. Pat dry jewellery with a towel before storing it. Wipe the jewellery pieces with a jewellery cleaning cloth or a jewellery polishing cream. These cleansing techniques help the jewellery to sparkle and shine. Store your jewellery in butter paper and then plastic pouches, as these are non- abrasive.
5 Perfumes & sprays a big no-no 74
Sure, we love perfumes, but our jewellery doesn’t. Perfumes are harmful for our sacred pieces as a dab can make them lose their shine. Always wear your fashion jewellery after spraying the perfume and avoid contact at all costs.

Q. What do you think are the current trends for A/W 13? A. Autumn/Winter is a time for celebration, and the seasonal trends reflect this spirit. Significant trends are the use of fabric in jewellery, bangle stacks both Western and Indian, statement rings, dramatic stones, crystals, large links, nature motifs, bold earrings.
IN THIS INTERVIEW
Q. Juvalia & You has emerged as India’s finest fashion jewellery brand in a short span. According to you what attributes have set Juvalia apart and have made it so successful so quickly?
A. At Juvalia & You, we like to call ourselves international but with an Indian heart. We work hard to create mood boards, which reflect
Mira Gupta (Director- Product) gives her take on the new Oct-Dec ‘13 Collection and the inspirations behind this collection.
international trends tweaked to the Indian sensibility and body type. Our research on what the Indian consumer loves is an on-going process. We constantly innovate with our designs, introduce new categories (like bags and shoe clips launched in July) and are committed to the best quality. Our product team lives - breathes - dreams jewellery. I have been in the fashion world for over 20 years but still get very excited when a new parcel of samples reaches me. The passion that each member of the Juvalia team brings to their work has reflected in our early and quick success.
Q. Tell us about the inspiration behind this collection? A. Every region in India has its own “look”, created by the unity of available materials and skills. In the Oct-Dec collection, we have focused on jewellery that represents the essence of each state. For instance Rajasthan, with its incredible history, is a cradle of exciting colours and textures. The incredible wealth and diversity of resources has inspired the Oct-Dec collection. With the start of winter, Indians show their love of celebration in festivals as diverse as Diwali and Christmas. The collection launching in this time is joyous; the look is opulent, with rich colours and elaborate details. Perfect for a night out with friends or a family celebration!
Q. What colours are dominating this collection?
Q. How do you decide on what would strike the right chord in terms of designs, since women are all very different and thus there are a lot of varying personal tastes?
A. Our customers are as diverse as the colours of the rainbow! Our effort is to honour this diversity with a wide variety in our seasonal lines. We are one of the few e-tailers to have a very wide list of designs to suit the lives and styles of our discerning customer. Our product range embraces both costume as well as fashion jewellery, and we work to satisfy our customer with what best becomes her.
Q. One word to describe the Oct-Dec collection. A. Peri Peri!
A. Indians have a talent for combining riotous colours in perfect harmony. The collection features warm Indian tones, reflecting the spirit of the season. Ruby reds, emerald greens, gold, and Indian pink reflect international trends, and work well with traditional as well as with Western garments.
Q. What materials and techniques have been used for this collection? A. Materials again are extremely diverse, marrying the best of tradition with contemporary novelty. We have metal alloys,
Q. What is a typical day at work like at Juvalia & You? A. No one day at Juvalia is like any other day! Every day brings its own challenges and set of problems to grapple with. We could be doing a shoot on Juvalia or I’m meeting Chaitanya (CEO – Juvalia & You) on product and trying to reach a working consensus. I could be sitting at our warehouse trying to work on the best quality practices. I could be poring over a spread sheet studying sell-throughs. Some days I have back-to-back vendor meetings. It’s a frenetic pace at work and I love it.
semi-precious stones, bright glass, fabric, resin, acrylic, epoxy, wooden beads and many others. Techniques used embrace the best of Indian jewellery craftsmanship. Hand painted miniatures, kundan, enamelling, surface textures, metal stamping, stone setting, jali work and more.
Q. Three adjectives that describe you best…
152
A. Passionate, Perfectionist, People person.
