n June 2, 2018, the Pastoral Minister, Ms. Marla Ortiz relaunched the project “coin for a cause” to a new format called “#Iponkotulongko”, with the objective of raising funds in support of the outreach activities: catechesis, mentoring, feeding and supporting the “Handog-saya” program.Starting off the activity, each class in every grade level provide an empty can of powdered milk that can be seen in most households. It is submitted to the Center for Christian Formation(CCF) teachers to be labeled. Upon return, the students were encouraged to fill the can with 25 centavo coins or one peso, which is supposed to be offered every first friday of the month. The class with the most
savings will receive a certificate of recognition. All collected coins will proceed to the needs of the outreach recipients. This was done with the collaborative efforts not only of the students but also with their teachers. This was proved to be a success. For the first trimester, Grade three– St. Tarcisius had the most savings with the amount of ₱ 1,896 , followed by Grade 7- Our Lady of Assumption with their ₱1,721 and Grade six- St. Ignatius of Loyola with ₱1,210. The program gathered about ₱10,882 worth of collections. With the hope of more in the second trimester, this shows how dedicated Niñans are when called to help.

wo partylists, the Wisdom Partylist and the Obedience Partylist competed for the positions in the Student Coordinating Body (SCB) this S.Y. 2018-2019. Each partylist visited classrooms from Grades 4 to Grade 10 to campaign their representatives. Each of them really exerted effort so they can gain the trust of Niñans. “Mahirap pero masaya tsaka doon ko rin talaga nakita yung pagkakaisa ng Niñans.” Dagami, the standing president of Obedience Partylist shared. They were given a week to prove themselves not just to the students but also to the entire Areally close that it is not easy to determine which one will win. Denise Catubag of Wisdom Partylist stated “Nakakakaba talaga kasi ang ganda ng laban.” The election this year was easier because it was automated with computers
so it is not hard to count votes and after few hours, the winners are already determined. The result is also provided on this page.Majority of the Wisdom Partylist won and there are some who came from Obedience Partylist. Hannah Aguilar, our new auditor admitted that she was indeed shocked with the results “At first, talagang nakakagulat kasi ‘di ko inaasahan na mananalo ako kasi based sa votes na nilabas sa elementary, mas lumamang yung kabilang party kesa sakin. Pero syempre masaya ako na nanalo ako.”The newly new elected SCB Officers also pledged with their Adviser, Mr. Krisstofer Quemquem. They also made it clear that they are helpers and not the builders. They will push Niñans to improve and achieve our school’s Vision and Mission.

This moral teaching doesn’t end on the four sides of the classroom, but it bounds in their entire life as human being. SNPS introduces the works and the life of Jesus Christ to their students. A Niñan lives a simple life. In this generation, many students are affected by the wordy lures making them forget of what simplicity means. To be simple is to focus on what is need or what they want. That is the true value of a Niñan, a content and a simple individual. The second value is Humility. A Niñan lives a humble life. ullying here in the Philippines has reached its extent, where most of the students and teenagers who experienced it have decided to end their life. This issue has been rampant here in our country and it is mostly experienced by students, and unfortunately, it is still rising according to the statistics. Cases of bullying have risen by up to 21% by the year of 2014, as stated by a report of the DepEd, which had a total of 6,363 cases in comparison to the 5,236 cases in 2013. All of us have our own rights to be protected against abuse and violence, on both our physical or mental health, and we students are not an exception to it. Bullying comes in any form: verbal, physical, and online actions done by one or a group of students directed at another individual that affects emotional and physical, and also, damage to his/her property. Nowadays, issues of cyber bullying are the most common case of bullying in almost every school here in the Philippines.
Last August 16, 2018, a seminar about bullying was held by our Prefect of Students, Mrs. Mylene Barlis, at the Audio-Visual Room. Students from Junior High School attended the seminar and selected students who

attended were interviewed and asked and what did they learn from it. “The seminar acts as an orientation for the new students and a recall for the old ones” said Theodore Rosauro
of 9 – Our Lady of Lourdes. “Kung walang values na natutunan, mas mapo-provoke and mga students para mainvolve sa bullying” he added. I have also interviewed one Niñan that was once a bully and said that “bullies are not aware that they bully someone. For us, we tend to do it for fun”. The said seminar lasted for almost 1 hour. As a student of SNPS, we should learn that what we do and what we say to others may not always be fun as we know. Every one of us should know our limits, of what we say and how we act towards our colleagues and every other individual in our surroundings. Take action and stand up, for we are students of values, and be courageous enough to stop bullying here in our school. If you want a change, start it within yourselves. A small improvement can lead into a huge development. Let’s make our school a fun and peaceful place to study. We can all be achievers if we will continue this. So dear Niñans, help one another and value each other. Together, let’s say, “Back off, bullies!”

s the ship sinking? In the past years, we Filipinos are under the power and influence of different foreign races. During this era, the traditions and beliefs of the Filipinos were changed. The dominance of the invaders leads to devastating results to the Filipinos such as death, slavery, and corruption. Our heroes b r a v e l y s a c r i f i c e themselves to fight for our freedom. Their dedication, sacrifice and love for our country leads us to our independence. In our modern society, we take advantage of our freedom to do what we please instead of what is right. It is hard to think if the Filipinos are worth fighting for or rather we do really deserve our freedom. Just like in our generation, we look up to the foreign culture rather than to
embrace our own culture. How can we fight for our country if we as Filipinos don’t even bother to love our country. Our country is like a sinking ship with all the social and political issues such as crime, drug abuse, terrorism, poverty, and corruption. From all these issues we are now f a c i n g , should we abandon the ship and just swim away? The Filipinos are still worth fighting for. We, as citizens of our country, we must d e v e l o p unity to help each other for the common good. Our country has the potential to improve, all we need is to love and respect our country. Thus, we must not abandon our country, we must embrace it and share it to the future generation.
“ We take advantage of our freedom to do what we please instead of what is right ”
Dear Kuya G,
Dearest Sender,
I am writing to voice my opinion about the concerns in our school. Students always
First, I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude for taking your time to communicate with us your concerns about the school. Having considered the points of your message, I write to let you know of my approbation with regards to your opinion about the said matter. As a student, I must say that it is quite bothersome to note that your complaints are addressed to persons of the same reputation as we have. Moreover, I can also agree on the fact that there are some facilities that seem faulty, and I believe, that if not for this letter, students would still continue misusing the school’s properties. In line with this, I would like to appeal to my fellow students to consider this discussion as a call to action to observe correct use of school property and facilities. By doing so, malfunctions can be avoided so as to fill the needs of the entire SNPS Community. I also hope to see this letter as a reminder for everyone to act on the necessary measures and start within themselves.
tend to demand and complain about the facilities and the system, but my concern about the school are the students currently studying here. Everybody talks trash about broken facilities, as a matter of fact, we’ll never have broken and useless facilities if the students know how to use it properly without playing or breaking it. I suggest that we should implement the school rules in a more strict way so that the students will have the urge to do good and abide by it.
Sincerely, Grade 10 student
Sincerely Yours, Kuya G.

The Brave, [Ma'am] Merida
O
ne of the biggest changes this year is our new School Principal The Brave, Ma’am Merida. Before she became our principal, we all knew her as our former Academic Coordinatorfor. But now, she's on the next chapter of her career and even though we know her as our new principal, there’s a lot of things that we don’t know about her yet. Before teaching, Ma’am Merida also dreamt of being an artist. She also said that she grew up loving art and designing as well, “I’m fond of art, as far as I remember I have joined several art contests such as on-the-spot painting, canvass painting. When I was a College student, I tried to join a contest wherein I won as the 3rd place.” she added. That interest also led her to other opportunities. Back then, she was also hired by a Chinese teacher to make her visual aids and designed a resource center of a school wherein her professor was a consultant. But still, she chose teaching. Back when she was young, she was inspired by her teachers. “I wonder how my teachers did those activities that I enjoyed a lot.” she supported. She started teaching here in SNPS way back in 1991 and assigned as the class adviser of Grade 1- San Lorenzo Ruiz.
For her, teaching opened up a lot of doors. With the people she met, the activities she joined, the laughter she shared, the problems she encountered, with the pupils she taught, she realized, instead of her teaching, it is her who is learning. “In SNPS I learned to appreciate that having less of the material things is not being less as a teacher. "SNPS has prepared me over time to b e c o m e s e l f disciplined, v a l u e l a d e n and be a
committed teacher with a deep understanding that God is with me in my
daily life.” For her, the best part of teaching is when her former students recognize her and they remember her as someone who touched their hearts. That makes her really proud because seeing them makes her happy and knowing that they are already successful in their chosen paths. Even Sir Sulit and Ma’am Tornilla were her students back when they are in elementary level. Teaching is really her passion but this year, she bravely faced her new phase̶ being the
principal of SNPS. For her, it gives her mixed emotions. She’s nervous because it’s not easy but she’s also happy, excited, and determined because she have us with her. “With some changes we have implemented this school year and for more we are about to, I look forward for a total participation and cooperation of everyone, and that they may realize that what we are doing is for our students benefit.” she concluded. Tough times never last but tough people do just like Ma’am Merida. This school year is really a year of surprises but also a year that shows how we are open to changes. And for that, SNPS celebrates because we have a principal who serves as a role model for students to face challenges with God as the center of their lives.

What Makes A Hero
I
n writing this article, I remembered an interview that was aired on ABS-CBN’s Bandila in the remaining hours of Ninoy Aquino Day. In the interview, a historical expert talked about on how we should appreciate that day; not by simply praising Ninoy Aquino – a national hero to some, a national disgrace to others – and his efforts to free the country from the tyranny of former dictator Ferdinand Marcos, but to also understand why he wanted to free us. And while I’m one of those people who thinks that Ninoy is a hero, this had me thinking: What makes a hero? What are the qualities that an ordinary person should have for them to be rec-

ognized as a hero? So, when I was given this assignment the following day, I went around asking people that same question; What makes a hero? After talking to a handful of respondents; some from our school and a couple from from the neighboring Quezon City Science High School, here’s what I gathered: A hero is someone who inspires, willing to sacrifice their lives for others, and has left a lasting mark in history. One respondent even replied “act like Jesus”. Which, to my knowledge, means one also needs to be kind of heart, and has faith. And looking at what I have, I can think of a handful of our National Heroes
who shares some of these traits. One such hero is the one we all recognize: Jose Rizal. When he was writing Noli Me Tangere, he feared that no one would ever read his book, but he persisted. He had faith that people would read it. And they did, for when the book came out, it went on to inspire many Filipinos to revolt against our colonizers. Another hero is Andres Bonifacio, who was inspired by Rizal to start the Katipunan. The man was really committed to bring freedom in our country, to the point where he would risk death just to do so. While not a lot of people liked him, he was admired by many oth-

Two of the most iconic is Quezon Province, renamed from Tayabas in 1946, and Quezon City, which was actually Quezon’s dream city. The Manuel L. ers for his bravery and cause. We have a lot of National Heroes here in the Philippines, and it’s a bit hard to list them all. But among all these heroes with these traits, one hero stands out. In fact, this hero is not just one person – it’s hundreds of thousands, scattered across the globe. It’s the Overseas Filipino Worker. My mother was one such OFW, and in her years working at a cruise ship as a waitress, she faced multiple rude vacationers all to make me and my father’s lives better back home. She is a very kind person, and would stand up for our family if needed. I will admit, I do give her a hard time half the time, but I have the highest
appreciation for her for what she’s done for us. And if you have an OFW in your family, maybe you should feel the same. When you think about it this way, becoming a hero isn’t all that hard when you have the traits stated above. You won’t become a massive sensation overnight, but maybe you could change someone’s life bit by bit. National Heroes Day isn’t about the heroes that we recognize, but it’s about the ones that we know are going to help us out when we need them.

THE A TI THE TI FES T FES
It’s been a tradition for a very long time for us to celebrate the Ati-Atihan Festival every third week of January. As a new year starts, we spend one whole week back to school by rigorously dancing our hearts out in celebration of our beloved Santo Niño, Patron Saint of Bago Bantay. It all started with our former Director Father Bong Guerrero. He made each Niñan involved in the celebration which everyone loved because it’s a nice way to show our devotion and be one with the Child Jesus, and the colorful costumes that identifies us as Niñans to everyone who watches us. The Ati- Atihan Festival is celebrated during the third week of January, it also originated in Kalibo, A k l a n .T h e name Ati- atihan means “To be like the Ati people”. The Ati refers to the aboriginal Aetas who lived in Panay Island. Some time in 1200 A.D., 10 Malay chief-
tains, called Datus, fled the island of Borneo in Indonesia to escape the clutches of their king, Sultan Makatunaw. They arrived in the Philippines sometime later, and they settled in Panay after having granted permission to immigrate by the Ati people. The leader of the ten Datus, Datu Puti, made a trade with the Ati people, buying their plains for a golden salakot, brass basins, bales of cloth and a long necklace for the wife of the Ati leader’s wife. Afterwards, they partied like there was no tomorrow.Subsequently, the Ati people thought they had fun too hard and started suffering from supply shortage due to bad harvest. They went down from their mountain village to the Datu settlement below to seek their generosity, to which the Datu acknowledged. The Ati people rejoiced again, this time grateful for the gifts that were given to them. The original Ati-Atihan was initially for the Ati people’s Anito god, before the Spanish added Christian symbolism into the festival. And thus, the festival evolved into what it is today. While this version has been declared as a myth, this isn’t the only origin story of the festival. In 1975, Father Jose Iturralde wrote a history of the Ati-Atihan which, according to him, dates back to the 1700s.According to him, an unnamed fisherman from Naile, Aklan went to the local river to catch fish. While there, instead of fish, he had
-A TIHAN -A TIHAN TIVAL TI VAL caught a piece of wood that was floating around. He tried to throw it away and catch some actual fish, but the piece of wood kept coming back to his net. Dismayed, he decided to bring the piece of wood home, thinking that it would make great firewood. However, that night, he and his wife heard a beating sound nearby. They investigate and found the piece of wood, now carved in the form of a child. They place the piece of wood on an altar, and soon afterwards are immediately blessed with good harvests. Several weeks passed and they decided to bring the piece of wood to the priest of Ibajay. He tells them to leave the wood at the parish after hearing their blessings with it. However, the wood keeps disappearing from the parish and is always found at rooftop of the fisherman’s house. The residents of Ibajay interprets this as a call for them to ask for forgiveness to God. Thus, they start to blacken their faces with coal and dress themselves in rags in an effort to have the piece of wood to stay. The plan worked, and the piece of wood never left the parish ever again. Sometime after, The Moros, Spanish colonizers from Mindoro, tried to invade the town of Ibajay. The residents fought back and won. They dedicated their victory to their piece of wood patron, and celebrated. When
Padre Fernando was reassigned to Kalibo, he also duplicated the event there, thus starting the At i - At i han
festival as we know it. There’s no denying that the Ati-Atihan Festival has s i g n i fi c a n c e to our history and culture and and to us ,Niñans as well. Our devotion to Sto. Niño will be marked to us forever.Viva, Viva, Santo Niño!

The Grade 9 students also had a great time as the y learn and had fun at the same time at Paradise Adventure Camp 3. They participated a lot of strategic games and worked as a team that taught them how to communicate better, focus, be a leader and a follower and many more! Our
Grade 10 students also had their unforgettable field trip wherein they went to Nueva Ecija! The students had fun as they experience the joy of living in the rural area especially working in the farm! They got muddy but they really enjoyed a lot because that is something unusual if you live in urban areas. Plus there’s a lot of sceneries that are really pleasing and refreshing to the eyes. Educational trips are really fun but let us not forget that we can also learn something from it. May we cherish all the memories and learnings in our hearts.

A Simple Offer to Our Modest Mother by Chiara Jayne Delena
I
n every Mama Mary’s Birthday, we celebrate it with a mass offered for her. We, Catholics celebrate it every September 8 of the year and we do that as we remember her as Jesus’ mother and of course, as our Blessed Virgin Mary and Mother. Also Mama Mary’s birthday is always celebrated in the Philippines. Many of us attend the mass to celebrate. We always pray the rosary, as well as offering flowers and candles to the Blessed Mother. But
the best present we can give to Mary is to follow her virtues and characters. She is holy and free from sin. But let us also keep in mind our Mother Mary’s compassion and sensitivity to the needs of others. After a month, we celebrated the “Month of the Living Rosary” wherein we prepared different Mary’s figures for a parade and decorated it with colorful and beautiful flowers and we’ve had our rosary with the entire school and
some parents included. In our school, it is also a tradition that students will serve as a living rosary with the use of balloons that are connected with each other and formed. After praying, the balloons were sent to the sky. Students always gather and run to see the rosary as it lifts higher up to the sky. It never failed to give us chills and in that way, it feels like we can communicate closer to Mama Mary.

She also added that she’s willing to go back here in SNPS. “I really want to feel the love and the warm wel-come of you guys once again.” She concluded. Instagram, a virtual world where you can release your inner creativity. But of course, it takes time and a lot of effort to improve your feed. Here are some tips given by fellow schoolmate, Aaroh Torreses (@aarohtorreses ).
First, consistency. Post once or twice a week and interact with your followers. Being consistent also shows that you are dedicated on what you are doing. Second, look for a theme that you really like to embody. Sticking to a certain theme makes it pleasing to the eye. You can look at other Social Influencers’ photos for inspiration. Third, make sure to take pictures with good lighting. Good lighting is key to taking your new pictures to a different level Fourth, use well known editing apps like VSCO, Picsart, or Snapseed or for desktop, apps like lightroom and photoshop to get the full experience when editing. Fifth and last, remember to have fun and do your thing. Do not feel pressured to post if you do not need to. The main purpose on posting your pictures on Instagram is to enjoy. Express yourself.

The Set of a Sunshine by Remelli Tornilla, Erwin Deala
ack when I was in grade one, I excitedly went home to tell my parents about my first day in school. I told them about my adviser, who was very bright and cheerful to all the students in my class. In my mom’s delight, she asked me who my adviser was so I took my notebook out of my bag and showed it to her, and in it, I had written “Mrs. Silvertree”. My mom was gladdened by the name and asked me if my adviser was a foreigner. But I replied that she looked like a pure Filipino. My mom then asked my sister, who was in Grade six, and was also studying in SNPS. She asked her if she knew any teacher named “Mrs. Silvestree” in school. She replied that there wasn’t a “Mrs. Silvestree” but there’s “Mrs. Silvestre”. After that, my mom laughed and I was embarrassed and from then on, I never forgot Mrs. Silvestre. Ma’am Silvestre was like a second mother to me. Whenever my skirt’s zipper was broken, she would sew it for me. When I forgot to bring my lunch, she would give me some of her food. There were also times when I look like a mess, she would call me just so she could brush my hair, tidy me up, and make me look clean. Even though she was my adviser years ago, I still go to her whenever I needed help. During the preparation of Buwan ng Wika celebration
this school year, I worriedly went to her classroom because I was having trouble finding flags for our performance. She consoled me, and told me not to panic because she was going to find a solution. She said she had some flags that we could use and just like that, our performance was saved and I am thankful because she was the kind of person who would never forget and would always help others whenever she could. I had some time to talk to Mrs. Silvestre’s children, Edcel and Althea Silvestre. Her son said that she was a full time mother at home. She cooks their meal, washes their clothes, cleans the house, etc. However, she wouldn’t let any of her children help her in doing the chores because she wants them to focus on their studies. “Pati nga po sa pagtulog ay kinakantahan niya po kami lalo na si Luis at pag natutulog na po kami lahat, tiyaka lang po siya gagawa ng trabaho niya as a teacher.” he added. Her children promised that they will fulfill their promise to her. “Susundin ko huling message niya sakin na makakuha ako ng diploma sa college.” Edcel said. As a daughter, Althea also
promised her mother to take care of their family. “Kahit na konti lang po pinagsamahan namin, aalagaan at di ko po pababayaan si Luis. Promise ko po sa kanya yun.” she added. We also asked some teachers who were close to
Ma’am Silvestre. They said that she was an amazing cook, she loved to give some of her special dishes to her friends and she will make sure that everyone has some of her food; she was also a positive person. According to Ma’am Bela, she’s very privileged to be Ma’am Silvestre’s friend. “Hinahangaan ko sya sa pagiging masipag, mapagbigay at masarap na pagluluto...hindi siya kailanman mawawala sa aming puso.” she added. She always seemed to be the sunshine on a rainy day, as she always radiate positive attitude towards anything. Most students consider her a mentor, co-workers saw her as a hardworking teacher and a friend. Her efforts were also mostly recognized among students particularly during Ati-Atihan season, as she had spent long hours choreographing dance moves for her students. Many Niñans have had the pleasure of meeting, and being her student that she treats like her own child. She always emanated a strong motherly presence, as any teacher should have. Even as a working mother, she still finds the time to spend with her family. Everything about her is full of
positivity. Remembering her gives happy thoughts but what makes it sad is that, she already passed away. It was a true loss, and it speaks volumes on how the lives of everyone who knew her will not be the same again. We remember her legacy by looking back to some of her inspirational achievements, as well as how she shown the passion that she was so well-known for. She also made Sto. Niño Parochial School not only an educational institution, but also a place a kin to home. Everyone in the SNPS community prays for her soul for we loved her so much. “Siguro nakapahinga na siya, wala na aalahanin dahil andiyan na si Panday...ramdam kong andito pa din siya ginaguide ang mga anak niya. Andun na siya kay Lord.” Ma’am Facto said as she thinks of Ma’am Leslee. “Salamat sa masayang alaala na ating pinagsamahan. Masaya ako at kasama mo na ang ating panginoon, alam kong hindi ka niya pababayaan.” Ma’am Bela also added. Family, friends, students, and colleagues joined together to mourn the loss of Mrs. Leslee Silvestre, but despite of this loss and tragedy, it is important that we keep the memory of her in our hearts as always. She would want us to reminisce and look back on life and experiences with a smile and not shed a tear. Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers go to her family most of all.

MOVIE REVIEW by Ronan Elijah Cayabyab
GOYO:Ang Batang Heneral In a world filled with melodramatic romance movies, there comes a local film that’s only released once in a blue moon. One that pulls the heart strings of any Filipino who watches it. One that’s very, very worthy of an Oscar nomination. One of those movies was Heneral Luna, released in 2015. That movie was an absolute smash hit when it came out, to the point where memes about the movie were being made and everyone started yelling “Negosyo o kalayaan? Bayan o sarili? Pumili ka!” and “Artikulo Uno” everywhere. Then, because of the undeniable success, Artikulo Uno Productions started to continue making films
about our heroes. And one of the most awaited is the movie entitled “Goyo”. Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral was released on September 5, 2018 and is a sequel to Heneral Luna. The movie is produced by Artikulo Uno Productions, TBA Studios, and Globe Studios. Now, Goyo has a bigger budget because of their partnership with Globe. Paulo Avelino, the actor who plays Goyo, took a lot of time and effort researching the character he's portraying, even to the point of learning how to do horseback riding. In his depiction of Gregorio Del Pilar, he is a brash, tough-as nails general who, like most of us, has a soft spot deep inside. . The cinematography
and sound design is fantastic, but the plot lacked a bit in comparison to its predecessor. But the fact that this is a part of our history and this is one of the ways on how we can educate the youth makes it a lot special. Artikulo Uno Productions is really doing a great job when it comes to entertaining and educating not just the Filipino minds but also everyone. We really hope that students will appreciate the film and its sequels because it shows the importance of fighting for our rights and our country. That was indeed a part of our history but who knows? Maybe history will repeat itself.
Everyone in town knows about Netflix and when we say Netflix, it means a marathon of movie or series. It is already one of the trends that we have this year and its popularity still continues.Because of our love for Netflix, we chose two famous series of it.
KNOWING THE BULLDOGS, THE BLUE AND GOLD,
THE RED CIRCLE, AND THE SOUTH SIDE SERPENTS by Christianne Agbayani
S
o are you familiar with Archie “Archiekins”Andrews, Jughead Jones, Elizabeth “Betty” Cooper, and Veronica “Ronnie” Lodge? Maybe some of you are already thinking about the Netflix series. But do you know that it is based on Archie Comics that has its own debut back in 1941? Archie Comics was inspired by MGM’s Andy Hardy films of 1930s. It revolves around Riverdale, the hometown of Archie. We can also see the love triangle among Betty, Archie, and Ronnie. But we cannot set aside the great friendship that they show in the comics. Last January 26, 2017, Riverdale has its debut with a lot of positive reviews. People became more hooked with Netflix because
O
we can watch its series there. A lot of fans, especially the teenagers and the millennials are talking about it. Riverdale shows the characters ofthe Archie Comics. We can see same names, same places, and many more but of course, they included some twists. The first episode of the first season shows the life of Archie Andrews, a high school football player who has a passion in music and also a son of Fred Andrews, businessman who owns a small construction company. He was having a hard time choosing between his passion and what he think is right, which is to pursue football. His father also told him that he must pursue playing because that will help him have a scholarship. While Archie was
havingtrouble deciding, Betty on the otherside also has trouble thinking if she must confess her feelings for his best friend, Archie. But it ended in a sad way because he told her that he only sees her as his best friend and he doesn’t want to ruin it. A new face also entered Riverdaleand that’s Veronica Lodge, a former wealthy socialite from New York who moved because of their family and financial problems. She became close to Betty and started hanging out with her. Then there’s also Jug, Jughead Jones. He is a social outcast who is also a son of a Southside Serpent. But he is incredibly smart and true to everyone around him. He struggles for his daily living since their family was broke andhe started to make a living for himself because there’s
no one to support him. He is also Archie’s bestfriend and he serves as the narrator of the show. Everyone has their own struggle in the show until one thing happened and that is the mystery of Jason Blossom’s death. That gave their small town a huge chaos and the teenagers were also hooked because Jason was a Bulldog in their school. And they re also undeniably connected from each other. Because of that chaos, the Red Circle was founded by Archie wherein theyserved as the guardians of Riverdale from those who are trying to haunt them. They even suspected the Southside Serpents because of that matter. One of the best things about the show is the Blue and Gold, the School Paper Organization of Riverdale High
School. Writers like us can relate to it because we make sure that what we write must only contain facts and we serve as the voices of truth. The show also shows how Jug and Betty works hard for the publishing of their papers and that serves as a mirror of reality as well because it is not easy to write an article about something. Sometimes you really have to put yourself into it and experience it just like what they do in the show. A lot of us can relate to this because this show is about teenagers who are trying to solve the mysteries of their town. There’s no doubt that we are hooked to it because it also shows school setting and school spirit.
before going to 'Nailed It!'. It is Chocolate with Jacques Torres, which aired at the year 2002. Back to the information about the show, its first season aired earlier this year. The show only has two seasons. The first season has six episodes, while the second season has seven episodes because they had a bonus episode
wherein they gave a chance for their fans. Both seasons did only focus on making desserts and not much of the savory side. I recommend this show if you like/love cooking and watching funny clips because this can get really exciting episode after episode.

SNPS Celebrates Nutrition Month

he primary level (ECE – Grade Three) displayed their own fruits and vegetables costume on July 25, 2018 at the school triangle. Pupils from intermediated level (Grade four – six) were asked to join but not compulsary. The outfit was inspired by the theme on this year’s Nutrition month celebration which was “Ugaliing magtanim sapat na nutrisyon aanihin.” Translated
into english was “Think green. Think garden.” “The purpose of this activity was to create a greater awareness of the benefits of eating vegetables and fruits and to promote vegetable gardening even in urban areas not only for proper nutrition of the whole family but this could also be another source of income for them.” Mrs. Sergia Bron said when asked about the main purpose of the activity. It was
the pupils decision to either purchase the outfit from the market or done by themselves with the use of recycled materials or actual fruits being part of it. “Because nowadays the pupils are fond of eating processed foods that is why we asked them to wear fruits and vegetables.” Mrs. Ofelia Enriquez said on why they told the pupils to wear costumes.

D
oes your grandmother ever tell you that on their time, when they have P1000 bill, they can be considered rich? Well as you can see, today it is not possible for someone to be called rich for having 1000 pesos in their hands. Our country is evolving every minute as the price of products in the market increases as well. This is called inflation – it is an increase of price across a wide variety of products. Philippines Statistics Authority evaluation for the third quarter shows that the inflation rate across the country accelerated to 6.4%, the highest since March 2018. It is hard for consumers to adjust their budget per day because most of the agricultural products are affected. Rice inflated by 7.1%, vegetables and fruits 19.2%, Corn 12.2%, Fish 12.4% and sugary goods 9.1%. We are disappointed to hear the news because it shows that our peso is devaluated. As 2018 started, we are aware that prices of some products increase slowly but this month, it caught upon us.
by Hannah Ysabelle Aguilar It has affected all of us because our country relies mostly on agricultural products. The supply of agricultural products cannot sustain the demands of the local market which causes for
changing rapidly ever since the implementation of Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) law, around January. In this time of high inflation rates, most of us can’t adjust properly on the sudden change of prices because we didn’t anticipate for this to happen. The budget that we created for our everyday living has been affected. This crisis especially shatters the poor Filipinos because they are the ones that are already suffering in the fixated price of products. We cannot do anything to lower down the inflation other than wait for it to go back to its original state. But what we can do is to lessen the effect of it on our life. We can start our own vegetable garden so that when the crisis happens once again we can now sustain ourselves the food that we need. The 1000 pesos can either be enough for us or not. We need to remember that everything that we do affects the environment no matter how small or big. It is in our choice on how we will budget the money that we have on our hands.

olycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder common among women of reproductive age. PCOS is a problem with hormones that affects women during their childbearing years (ages 15 to 44). Many women have PCOS but don’t know it. In one study, up to 70 percent of women with PCOS hadn’t been diagnosed. Women with PCOS produce higher-than-normal amounts of male hormones. This hormone imbalance causes them to skip menstrual periods and makes it harder for them to get pregnant. The ovaries may develop numerous small collections of fluid (follicles) and fail to regularly release eggs.

PCOS also causes hair growth on the face and body, and baldness. And it can contribute to long-term health problems like diabetes and heart disease. Signs and symptoms of PCOS vary. A diagnosis of PCOS is made when you experience at least two of these signs. Hair growth in unwanted areas. Your doctor may call this “hirsutism”. You might have unwanted hair growing in places such as on your face or chin, breasts, stomach, or thumbs and toes. Hair loss. Women with PCOS might see thinning hair on their head, which could worsen in middle age. Weight Problems. About half of women with PCOS struggle with weight gain or

Insulin is the hormone produced in the pancreas that allows cells to use sugar, your body's primary energy supply. If your cells become resistant to the action of insulin, then your blood sugar levels can rise and your body might produce more insulin. We can hear names such as Jaworski, Patrimonio, Lastimoso, Atoy Co and etc. But come to think of it, is it the only sport that we are good at? According to Mr. Isaac Reyes, Philippines should immediately cease playing basketball completely. He said it after he studied the past records and datum of how Philippine teams perform on 2018 Asian Games. He also indicated that despite posting world dominating performances in sports such as boxing, weightlifting, golf and martial arts, the Philippine nation has developed an unusual obsession with the American sport of basketball that has persisted despite consistently poor performances in this sport at the Asian Games and the Olympics. His studies also found out that within the Philippines, there lies a large unsupported. Group of athletes, whose opportunities have been stifled by the national obsession with basketball. These potential world beating athletes are actively training in the sports of weightlifting, boxing, golf, taekwondo and other sports, but receive little to no corporate and governmental support while watching the bulk of sponsor funds go toward basketball - a sport largely imposed upon the Philippines by colonial rule. Our predictive model finds that an immediate redistribution of sponsor funding to
these promising athletes would result in a fivefold increase in medal haul for the Philippines at the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympic Games. Although, some basketball fans and community disagreed to this, Mr. Reyes tried to convince them by telling the potential of Filipino youth on other sports; especially soccer, billiards, boxing or weightlifting. He also wants to point out that if government and politicians have enough support for would be resulted and more medals Philippines would have. This last September 3, 2018, Mr. Rhon Palmera, won in the third world Nomad Games in Toguz Korgool event and widely known in the country as Sungka, as silver medalist, Hidilyn Diaz and Margielyn Didal won a gold medal in 2018 Asian games. If it were to be given bigger budgets, maybe the whole community would know immediately about it and not just 10% of our country’s population. It would be more likely to be broadcasted on sports channels and other TV series channels, just like when famous boxers and Gilas Pilipinas are broadcasted. Filipinos may not be as great as the Westerns when it comes to basketball but we have a lot of sports where we’re good at! But the question is, can other Filipinos support them just the way they supported Gilas Pilipinas when they lost or is it still the same old story wherein these athletes will be recognized if they already brought home the bacon?

eaching is one of the hardest jobs. It is also the noblest profession and because of the huge help of teachers, we become who we want to be. What they do is not easy and they shoulder a lot of students’ future. But even though teaching is already a hard job, someone managed to juggle it with pageantry and she is no other than Ms. Maria Angelica Mabutol, the MAPEH teacher of grades 9, 10, and SHS, and Ms. DOCES 1st runner up. Being a beauty queen is not just about being beautiful and being brainy. You also have to keep your
body fit. According to some teachers, Ms. Mabutol had a hard diet before the contest. Although Ms. Mabutol said it was her desire to bring home the crown, she did not wish to get the title. Instead, she prayed of having a good experience when she joined the pageant. But what made her excited is that she can eat every single food that she wants after the contest. But teaching and pageantry is not the only thing that she can juggle, she’s also active in our games since she became our new sports coordinator for this school year. According to her, she never expected to be the sports
coordinator before she was appointed for that position. She also said that she adjusted on that position because she’s a newbie. Adjusting to new things is hard because first of all, you’re not used to it. Always think of those things as a challenge, take it as an opportunity and a way to improve yourself. Just like Ms. Mabutol, she experienced a lot of things wherein she’s new and she has to manage her time wisely but she took those as challenges and because of that she grew and improved herself.
