Attending a farmers market is a classic way to spend a summer Saturday — you get to browse organic veggies, sample baked goods or pick out fresh flowers. Nearly every suburb boasts a market, but one of the longest-running ones around is the Northfield Farmers Market. This year marks its 41st market season, as well as a location change and new name. Now known as the Winnetka Farmers Market and located in the parking lot of the Winnetka Village Hall, the market is home to stalls piled high with fruits and vegetables, artisanal cheeses, baked goods, coffee and even wine every Saturday morning. The market had been located for 15 years at New Trier High School’s West Campus. This past year, the school received financial support to build new tennis courts in the grassy area where the market had been held, prompting the Chamber of Commerce to seek out a new location.
