L
ead organizers of this summer’s inaugural Winnetka Music Festival, attended by more than 9,000 people, are wasting no time planning for an even bigger musical event next year. The two-day festival, held June 23-24, featured outdoor stages, food trucks, a team of 200 volunteers, and lively crowds of listeners gathered on Winnetka’s streets to hear free performances by popular indie bands like Jared and the Mill, Wild Belle and The Accidentals. Organizers say attendees from as far away as Houston, Minneapolis and St. Louis traveled to the North Shore to follow their favorite bands. “One of the things we hoped to accomplish with the Winnetka Music Festival was to bring people together and to

A new New Trier

I
t’s been 60 years since New Trier High School has undergone major renovations, and when students return on September 7 they’ll find new stateof-the-art facilities that promote innovative learning. “I’m thrilled to see the full vision finished by the start of school this year and how exciting that is for our students, staff and community,” said Superintendent Dr. Paul Sally. “There are wonderful new opportunities for teaching and learning in those spaces.” Sally officially became superintendent July 1 after Dr. Linda Yonke retired in June. He joined New Trier Township High School District 203 about 22 years ago, and most recently served as associate superintendent for curriculum and instruction.
