P

arents want the Glenbrook High School District 225 Board of Education to do something about a perceived drug and alcohol problem at Glenbrook North and Glenbrook South high schools. Board members are listening and continuing to gather information but unless the substance abuse takes place on school property the schools’ actions are limited. The board asked Superintendent Mike Riggle and his staff to collect additional information and begin to develop a plan to deal with the issue through a variety of methods, which could include drug sniffing dogs, during its meeting September 26 at Glenbrook South in Glenview. T

hree more Amtrak round trips between Chicago and Milwaukee with the usual stop in Glenview seemed like a good idea until some village officials learned the spawned complexity may reduce property values. The six additional trains on tracks shared with Metra and the Canadian Pacific freight service coupled with Union Pacific freight lines further west in the village may put the area over the tipping point for train traffic.
