Shell Albian Sands Jackpine Updated: may 2012 • The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (CEAA) recently invited public comment on a revised draft agreement to establish a joint panel for review of the Pierre River mine project, as well as revisions to the existing joint panel agreement for the review of the Jackpine Mine expansion project. The public comment period is now closed, and the CEAA says that after taking public comments into consideration, the agreements will be finalized and made public. Expansion

Suncor is now mining volumes from the North Steepbank Extension. The company expects that its Millennium Naphtha Unit (MNU) project will be fully operational by mid-year. In April, Suncor announced its upgrader had successfully returned to normal operations following a brief shutdown due to a fractionated performance issue. Suncor has started commissioning assets associated with its tailings reduction operations infrastructure project and anticipates to start using these assets during q2.
