NORTH ATHABASCA REGION — IN SITU

Suncor is now mining volumes from the North Steepbank Extension. The company expects that its Millennium Naphtha Unit (MNU) project will be fully operational by mid-year. In April, Suncor announced its upgrader had successfully returned to normal operations following a brief shutdown due to a fractionated performance issue. Suncor has started commissioning assets associated with its tailings reduction operations infrastructure project and anticipates to start using these assets during Q2.

Updated: May 2012

Project partner Suncor Energy says that current capital expenditures are around further design work, drilling and site preparation. The partners plan to submit development plans to their respective boards of directors for sanction in 2013.
