Step IPEMA Rainbow Play Systems, Inc is a member of the Manufacturers Association (IPEMA), which is a member driven association whose mission is to assist in providing safe environments for children to play. For more information visit www.ipema.org. ASTM The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) is the scientific and technical organization chiefly responsible for developing standards for testing different materials. In 1993 the ASTM published Standard Consumer Safety Performance Specifications for Playground Equipment for Public Use, designated as F1487. The standard has been revised several times since 1993. It is standard that establishes minimum acceptable performance specifications for most types of equipment to surfacing. For more information, contact ASTM at (610) 832-9585 or online at www.astm.org. CPSC The Consumer Product Safety Commission is an independent agency within the United States Federal Government with the authority to inform the public of current product safety performance information and recommended practices. The CPSC first published their guidelines for public playgrounds in 1981 and have updated their publication several times over the past 20 years. The current CPSC Handbook for Public Playground Safety, publication #325m is an excellent guide for owners and operators of public play environments. For more information, contact CPSC in Washington DC at (800) 6382772 or online at www.cpsc.gov.

ADA ACCESSIBLE Rainbow proudly offers a line of ADA Accessible play systems, which are marked with the designated ADA symbol. Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) has established specific guidelines that must be met for a structure to be considered ADA Accessible. These guidelines ensure that the structure is not only accessible but also usable by individuals with disabilities. Rainbow is continuously striving to improve its line of play systems to ensure every child has an equal opportunity to get out and play. For more information visit www.ada.gov

Safety Considerations Each of our product descriptions includes ground space dimensions. • Minimum play area is the total space under or around a piece of installed equipment that is required for a user to complete the activity, such as swinging out or exiting a slide. When planning the space requirements for your playground, give careful consideration to the ground space dimensions and the minimum play area. It is vital, for safety, that the entire zone be covered with a soft resilient surface. See U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Guidelines. The Right Play Surface According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, over 70% of all playground injuries occur because of falls to the ground. It is very important to never install playground equipment over a hard surface. Falls onto a hard surface can result in serious injury. We recommend when choosing a surfacing material that it meets CPSC recommendations (4.5), ASTM F1951-99 Standard for ADA Accessible surface material, ASTM 1292-99 Standard for impact attenuation, and ASTM F2075 Standard for engineered wood fiber safety surfacing. *Designs shown in this catalog may vary for the European market.
