All the essentials It’s everything you need to start school, packed into one big day! At K-State’s June orientation you’ll focus on advising, enrollment, and preparing for your first semester! Come to the ground floor of the K-State Student Union bright and early to start your day. All new students must attend an orientation and enrollment session. June sessions offer a fullservice program to get you started at K-State. One session will be offered in August for those who cannot attend June orientation.
Smile for your official wildcat photo ID. Attend informational sessions. Meet students in your college.
Stuff you’ll want to bring
You can spend the night in a residence hall. Online reservations are encouraged.
Photo ID. You will need proof of identity to pick up your student ID.
Go to Moore Hall when you get to Manhattan.
Financial aid info. Bring your award letter and any material you’ve received in the mail. We’ll be glad to answer questions.
Pay by cash, check, Mastercard, or Visa when you check in at the hall.
Comfortable shoes. For walking and touring the campus.
Don’t send the room payment in advance.
Casual clothing. Think summer heat and well air-conditioned buildings.
The cost is $26 per person for a doubleoccupancy room, or $33 for a single.
Your cell phone. To use as an alarm clock, or to meet up with your parents. A few dollars. Some colleges provide students a handbook that you may need to pay for (less than $5). An umbrella. Just in case.
All bedding and towels are provided. Breakfast and dinner are available in the dining center for an additional charge. Reserve a room for orientation via the online reservation link at: housing.k-state. edu/guests/guests_summer.php
Staying in town? If you plan to stay overnight in a local hotel, you should make your reservation early.

Tour the campus and a residence hall. Talk with an advisor and enroll in your fall classes. Learn about fraternities, sororities, and scholarship houses. Visit the K-State expo to learn more about campus life and resources. Get your copy of the book “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks” and begin reading.* Order your athletic passes. *The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks” by Rebecca Skloot. As part of this university-wide program, you can tackle complex issues of medical ethics, privacy, economics, and family. In the fall, the university community will participate in exciting discussions, special presentations, and activities centered around the book! Orientation fees include the book, which will be distributed to all new students at June orientation and enrollment on the Manhattan campus.

Before you get here: Pick a date. Choose your orientation day from the list on the registration form. Set up an eID. All students must have an eID (electronic identifier) to enroll. You must set up your eID before you come to June orientation and enrollment. Go to eid.k-state.edu. All new freshmen and transfer students who plan to take a math course are required to take the online math placement exam before attending orientation and enrollment. Math exams are available online at math.k-state. edu/placement using your K-State eID and password. Keep this brochure. It’ll make a handy reference guide for your orientation and enrollment day. Receive your confirmation email. An email will be sent with your orientation date. Parking permit. Your parking permit should arrive 10 days after we receive your registration information. Bring a photo ID. You’ll need it to pick up your student ID. Show up! Be at the Union at 8 a.m. on your scheduled day, ready for a day that will pave the way and launch your career with us here at K-State!
Meningitis vaccine policy If you plan to live in the residence halls, you are required to have the vaccination for meningitis or sign a waiver. Lafene Student Health Center staff will be available to provide the vaccination at your orientation. For more information, see www.k-state.edu/lafene/
Placement tests All new freshmen or transfer students who plan to take a math course are required to take the online math placement exam before attending orientation and enrollment. Math exams are available online at math.k-state.edu/ placement using your K-State eID and password. If you plan to study a modern language, take a placement test on your orientation date to decide the right level of study for you. There is no charge for placement tests.
AlcoholEdu for college AlcoholEdu is an online prevention program used on more than 500 college and university campuses nationwide. The program challenges your expectations about alcohol and provides a confidential and personalized experience through current information, videos, comics, and more. The purpose of AlcoholEdu for college is to help you make healthy and safe decisions about alcohol while attending K-State. It focuses on preventing harm and making it less likely that you will have problems because of your own or someone else’s drinking. Most students find the program interesting and helpful, and many recommend it to their friends. You will learn more about AlcoholEdu during summer orientation and enrollment. You must register for your eID before you come to campus for June orientation and enrollment. What’s an eID? It’s your log in to K-State’s comprehensive computer system. All students must have an eID to enroll in courses. If you don’t already have an eID, here’s how to get one:
Transitioning to your new university. Introductions to people and services you’ll need. Please contact K-State’s Housing and Dining Services office (785) 532-6453 before your orientation date for fall availability and to get more information about living options on campus. Transfer students will need to sign up for the special session on June 12 or enroll on August 16.
Family members welcome! College is a joint effort between students, families, and the university. Special sessions for parents or partners will answer their questions and offer tips on making those big, university adjustments. Just let us know on your registration form who’s coming.
Find your WID on this brochure. Your Wildcat ID is a 9-digit number unique to each member of the K-State community. Confirm your WID by flipping over this brochure. The mailing label on the back has the number printed above your name. You need the number to register online. Go online. Go to eid.k-state.edu and click “Register Now!” Commit it to memory. Cancellation and refund policy If you are unable to attend your scheduled orientation session or Wildcat Warm-up date, please contact New Student Services as soon as possible. The last day to cancel and request a full refund for any June orientation and enrollment session or Wildcat Warm-up date, will be May 31, 2012. Any cancellations after May 31 will not be refunded.

It’s best if you can enroll during June orientation. But if you can’t make it in June, you may enroll in August. Information will be sent out later. New students who can’t enroll in June or August should contact the Office of Admissions.
Will I have to pay tuition and fees? You will not pay your tuition and fees when you enroll for your fall semester classes during our June orientation program. Tuition statements will be sent to students at their K-State e-mail address in mid-July. An $18 fee will be added to your tuition statement to cover the cost of your student ID card.
Use this map to find the campus, parking lots, and the K-State Student Union. A parking permit will be included with your confirmation card. Both should arrive about 10 days after we receive your registration. You may park in the parking garage south of the K-State Student Union. The entrance is located on 17th Street north of Anderson Avenue. A parking attendant will direct you. This permit also allows you to park in designated areas only (lots marked W, O, T, or Z). The permit does not exempt you from paying parking meter fees and does not allow parking in handicapped (without a valid disability placard or license plate), reserved, and no-parking stalls.
