NCAA COMPLIANCE What every alumnus, booster and fan of K-State should know about the NCAA and its rules:

The Kansas State University Athletic Department takes great pride in abiding by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Big 12 Conference rules and guidelines that govern Division I competition. In the eyes of the NCAA, alumni and fans could be considered a representative of K-State’s athletic interests, and considered a booster. As such, please exercise caution whenever you come in contact with current or prospective student-athletes, even those who have completed their academic careers. It is extremely important that you know and abide by NCAA rules.

••• Contact the K-State Compliance Office with any questions ••• Remember that in most cases CONTACT with a prospect is prohibited ••• If you think it is wrong, then it probably is ••• No question is too small or insignificant to ask

For more on what is and is not acceptable, please call the Compliance Services Office at (785) 532-3990 before doing something that may jeopardize a student-athlete’s eligibility to compete for K-State. K-STATE SONGS FIGHT SONG Fight you K-State Wildcats For Alma Mater fight-fight-fight! Glory into combat for the purple and white Faithful to our colors, we shall ever be, fighting ever fighting for a Wildcat Victory! ALMA MATER I know a spot that I love full well, ‘Tis not in forest nor yet in dell, ever it holds me with magic spell, I think of thee Alma Mater. KSU, we’ll carry the banner high, KSU long, long may thy colors fly. Loyal you to thee they children shall swell the cry. Hail, Hail, Hail Alma Mater. WABASH CANNONBALL Everyone knows that familiar tune Wabash Cannonball. In fact, Wabash and K-State are almost synonymous. What many people do not know is how the song became an integral part of Wildcat athletics. In the fall of 1969 the department of music was consumed in a fire. Every piece of music in the building was destroyed. The only thing that was salvaged was what was in the band director’s brief case. That included a piece of music titled the Wabash Cannonball. With an upcoming football game and no music, that left only one thing to do. The band members played the song loud and often. A song that originally had no connection to K-State Athletics has since become a second fight song.
