I am continually amazed by the generosity of the K-State family and your commitment to helping K-State achieve the vision of becoming a model intercollegiate athletics program. The unrestricted dollars given by over 7,000 members of the Ahearn Fund are the life-blood of K-State Athletics. This collective commitment has provided us the flexibility to make strategic investments in the very things that offer a world-class experience for all of our 465-plus student-athletes. From facilities improvements to adding support staff personnel in academic services to enhancing travel and recruiting budgets for all 16 of our programs, we are as committed as you to ensuring that we continue to strive for championships in the classroom and on the field of play. We are coming off a terrific 2010-11 academic year as Kansas State finished atop the Big 12 Conference in overall graduation rate for the fourth consecutive year and also scored record-high marks across the board in the most recent NCAA Academic Performance Ratings (APR). Our student-athletes also continue to turn in championship-level athletic performances as evidenced by the fact that K-State was one of just three schools across the nation to have its football team in a bowl game, both its basketball squads in the NCAA Tournament, its baseball team in an NCAA Regional, both track teams finish in the NCAA Top 25 and have a participant in the NCAA Tennis Championships. The Mike Ahearn Scholarship Fund; now officially known as the Ahearn Fund, was founded in 1964 with the primary objective of raising money from the private sector to assist with rising scholarship costs. While this continues to be one of its main objectives, the Fund has evolved into something much more; an Excellence Fund to support a worldclass student-athlete experience, including academic services, sports medicine, equipment, and travel; as well as an edge in supporting capital enhancements, attracting and retaining outstanding coaches, and supporting recruiting efforts with a national reach. Throughout K-State athletics history, Ahearn Fund members have provided support for thousands of student-athletes who have proudly worn the Purple and White.

Annual gifts to the Ahearn Fund and priority season-ticket purchases represent the lifeblood for K-State Athletics and allow the department to achieve its vision of a model intercollegiate athletics program. Ahearn Fund members who make an annual gift can receive Priority Points and other benefits according to their membership level.
The Ahearn Fund encourages all members to make their gifts online at AhearnFund.com. All current Ahearn Fund members have a secure online account. In order to activate this account, current members will need the AD number and email address found at the top of the renewal form. New members can also set up an online account at AhearnFund.com. Pledge Payment Schedules For your convenience, the Ahearn Fund is proud to offer monthly pledge payment options. When setting up a schedule please keep in mind that at least 25% is due on March 1 and the full balance is due on or before June 15. The Priority Points system was created to more equitably serve Ahearn Fund members. Priority Points determine season ticket placement and the distribution of tickets to high-demand events such as bowl games, Big 12 Championships and NCAA Tournaments. Additionally, Priority Point ranking is used for parking and seating upgrades for season tickets and other special events. Priority Points are rewarded as follows: --3 points per $100 of annual gifts made since 2010 to Ahearn Fund as well as Capital Campaign gifts (gift-in-kind included). Annual gifts include: Ahearn, Ahearn-Football, Ahearn-Men’s Basketball, Ahearn-Women’s Basketball, Ahearn-Loge Box, West Club, West Suite, East Chairback, and East Suite. --2 points per $100 of annual gifts to Ahearn Fund from 2000-09. --2 points per $100 of restricted gifts to Ahearn Fund. The National Leadership Circle (NLC) of the Ahearn Fund is a comprehensive program for Kansas State’s top level of annual donors to athletics.
In appreciation for their annual impact on the pursuit of athletic and academic excellence, NLC members are recognized with Bronze, Silver or Gold levels and receive special benefits. In 2011, we are pleased to have nearly 300 members, with approximately 15% of those members living outside of the state of Kansas. K-State fans continue to be the largest source of revenue for the athletics department. Private gifts from Ahearn Fund members, including the National Leadership Circle, along with season and single-game ticket purchasers will provide nearly 53 percent of the 2011-12 department budget. The record $51.46 million budget for FY 2012 includes $6.8 million for student-athlete scholarships to be paid to the university. The remaining portion of Ahearn Fund contributions, along with capital support donations and ticket revenues, are strategically invested in providing a world-class experience to the more than 465 student-athletes that represent K-State, striving for the Big 12’s best fan experience and competing for league championships. This investment includes support of the new Basketball Training Facility, the east-side view level restroom facilities, replacing the field turf inside Bill Snyder Family Stadium, seating improvements at Ahearn Field House for volleyball, and enhancements and renovation to the equestrian program and facilities. In addition, general university funding for Kansas State Athletics will begin to decrease from the current $1.526 million, which represented 3 percent of the FY 2011 budget. In FY 2012, this direct university support will decrease by more than 33 percent to $1 million, followed by reductions to $750,000 in FY 2013 and $350,000 the following year. Effective with FY 2015, K-State Athletics will no longer receive direct university support, allowing these dollars to be used to meet critical needs in Kansas State University’s academic programs.

The 2010-11 athletics year was one to remember at Kansas State. The school was one of six in the nation, including just two in the Big 12 Conference, to advance its football team to a bowl game, its men’s and women’s basketball programs to the NCAA Tournament and its baseball squad to an NCAA Regional. As a member of the Ahearn Fund, you have the first opportunity to purchase tickets for postseason events, which can include bowl games, the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments and the Phillips 66 Big 12 Basketball Championships held each March at Municipal Auditorium (women) and Sprint Center (men) in Kansas City, Mo. Tickets for these events are based on Priority Points (page 6 of this guide) and availability is from the Big 12 Conference, bowl partner and NCAA. It is important to follow the ordering deadlines and procedures to secure the best possible seats based on your donor rank as determined by Priority Points. Any time the Wildcats are poised for possible postseason play, ticket applications will be mailed in midOctober for a bowl game and early January for the Big 12 Championship(s) and NCAA Tournament(s).

Why is it important that I make my pledge and send in at least 25 percent of my contribution by March 1?

Meeting the March 1 deadline helps the staff provide the best possible customer service, helps ensure fairness and enables the staff to deliver the fiscal accountability you deserve. By indicating your intent to renew your Ahearn Fund membership by March 1 you guarantee retention of your football seating and parking location, provided you meet the minimum contribution level for the seating and parking area, renew your tickets and pay the balance of your pledge by June 15. March 1 is also the date which we will calculate priority points for football seating and parking upgrades.
Once the fiscal year ends in June, an annual report detailing how your gifts were utilized will be prepared and distributed to all Ahearn Fund members. Of course, you may complete your pledge in full at any time prior to the June 15 deadline.
Additionally, having pledges in by March 1 helps the department accurately project revenues, which assist with the budgeting process for the coming athletics year. This process begins in March with a completed budget published in late June.

What happens if I don’t make my pledge by March 1? Or my total gift by June 15? It is important to meet deadlines established in this membership guide to ensure that you retain your current seats and parking. If you miss these deadlines your seats and parking will be placed on our open seating/parking list and if there is a request that matches any open seats we will move those who have met the deadline into the open seats and/or parking. This is critical to ensuring fair treatment for Ahearn members and season ticket holders and giving those members who meet each deadline the opportunity to improve their seats and/or parking.

What are the advantages to paying my gift by March 1?

Can I join the Ahearn Fund if I don’t have season tickets?
Points are credited only as dollars are received. Completing your gift by March 1 means that you will get priority point credit for the entire amount of the gift, which could improve your seats and/or parking. Points will be calculated on March 1 and those totals will be used for football seating and parking upgrades. Points calculated on June 15 will be used for men’s and women’s basketball requests.

Can I pay my Ahearn Fund gift in installments? You can make monthly payments toward your Ahearn Fund pledge. Equal monthly payments can be charged to your credit card on the date you specify. An important thing to note if you are setting up a monthly payment schedule for the first time, please make sure that the portion of the donation related to priority seating is 25% and paid by March 1 and the balance is paid by June 15. We will work to accommodate your requests in regards to your payment schedules. Please call an Ahearn Fund staff member to personally discuss your options.
