With the vision of then-K-State president Kirk Schulz, the re-earned trust of Wildcat fans nation-wide and the efforts of K-State’s outstanding coaching staff, K-State Athletics has turned an inherited deficit into national acclaim as the NCAA’s most financially solvent program, initiated $210 million in comprehensive athletic facility improvements, including the new Vanier Family Football Complex, West Stadium Center at Bill Snyder Family Stadium, Ice Family Basketball Center, Intercollegiate Rowing Center and Mike Goss Tennis Stadium, and launched the nation’s No. 1 digital network all while Wildcat student-athletes were turning out championship performances both on the field and in the classroom.

CHAMPIONSHIP PERFORMANCES One of the five key goals for K-State Athletics is to expect championship performances. Over the last few seasons, the Wildcats have delivered in record-setting fashion. K-State student-athletes have garnered 65 All-America honors since 2013-14. K-State football participated in its sixth straight bowl game and volleyball advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in five years. Highlighted by three NCAA Champions in track and field, the women’s team went on to finish tied for seventh at the NCAA Outdoor Championships and eighth at the national indoor meet while also finishing third both indoor and outdoor at this year’s Big 12 Championships. Also, a total of eight track and field student-athletes claimed a total of 12 individual Big 12 Championships in 2015-16, while Jeff Mittie’s second year at the helm of the women’s basketball program saw the Wildcats return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in four years.

The 2012-13 campaign was also one for the ages as K-State became just the fourth BCS school since 1998 to win league titles in football, men’s basketball and baseball the same year. Bill Snyder, Bruce Weber and Brad Hill all earned Big 12 Coach of the Year honors in 2012-13 as K-State became the first Big 12 school to win all three in the same year. Also in 2012-13, Collin Klein became K-State’s second Heisman Trophy finalist, while Erik Kynard won the silver medal in the high jump at the London Olympic Games.

CHAMPIONS IN THE CLASSROOM At Kansas State, being a champion is more than winning trophies on the field or on the court. It is about providing student-athletes a world-class experience which includes being a champion in the classroom, and most importantly, becoming a champion in life. Wildcat student-athletes across the board exceeded benchmarks for the sixth straight year in the latest NCAA APR ratings which included three programs - men’s golf, women’s cross country and football - recording Big 12-leading marks in four-year APR scores. In addition, teams watched as a total of 82 student-athletes earned degrees, 127 earned Academic All-Big 12 status, and three were named Big 12 Scholar-Athletes of the Year in 2015-16. More than 70 percent of all Wildcat student-athletes received a 3.0 or higher GPA K-State’s commitment to academic excellence is demonstrated through the Student-Athlete Services program, which assists, directs, supports and promotes student development, academic achievement, academic athletic eligibility and progress toward graduation. The Student-Athlete Enhancement Center, located in the new Vanier Family Football Complex, is a world-class education facility designed for Wildcat student-athletes.

A total of 22 K-State student-athletes have been honored with the prestigious Gerald Lage Academic Achievement Award since 2014.
Six teams recorded perfect current year marks as the men’s cross country, men’s golf, women’s basketball, women’s cross country, women’s golf and women’s tennis teams had perfect 1000 marks.
Two Wildcat teams, men’s golf and women’s cross country, were awarded APR Public Recognition distinction for the third consecutive year for posting multi-year APRs in the top 10 percent nationally in each sport.
More than 70 percent of K-State student-athletes received a 3.0 or higher GPA in 2016 as 242 were named to the Spring 2016 Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

$16 MILLION AIRPORT EXPANSION PHASE I OPENED 2015
FLY DIRECT TO MANHATTAN Located a short seven-minute drive from the center of campus, Manhattan Regional Airport provides a simpler way to travel anywhere in the world. MHK offers five daily American Airlines jet service to Dallas-Fort Worth Airport and ChicagoO’Hare Airport. Both airports offer easy connections across the country and around the globe, making Manhattan a convenient starting or ending destination during your world travels. Opened in 2015, a $16 million expansion to Manhattan Regional Airport more than tripled the terminal size and added two more skybridge boarding walkways. The impressive design added new passenger dining and lounge facilities, while making security and check-in processes more efficient. Phase II is currently under construction and will include an expanded terminal, a meet-and-greet space for people to wait for arriving passengers, a restaurant and a gift shop.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS Directions to Manhattan from EAST (Kansas City Airport) Travel south on I-435. Take exit 12 to I-70 West. Exit mile marker 313 onto KS-177 North. Take the KS-177/Fort Riley Blvd off ramp and turn left onto KS-177, which will turn into Tuttle Creek Blvd.
Directions to Manhattan from SOUTH (Wichita Airport) Travel north on I-135. Take exit 33 to merge onto US-50 E toward Peabody/Emporia. At the traffic circle, take the 4th exit onto US-77 N. Turn right to merge onto I-70 E, and take exit 303 toward Manhattan.

Directions to Manhattan from WEST (Denver) Take I-70 East. Take exit 303 (K-18 North), and turn left onto K-18. Drive about 10 minutes on K-18 (it changes into Fort Riley Boulevard on the edge of Manhattan). Turn left at the 17th Street stoplight. Travel 11 blocks to the Anderson Avenue stoplight.
