Choosing metal sided drawers changes the process a little bit, but just follow these easy steps to select the products you need for your drawers:
• Firstly, purchase a standard base cabinet; not a drawer base cabinet (as you won’t be needing those timber drawers) in 450, 600 and/or 900mm widths.
• Then use our handy table below to work out which drawer configuration you would like, and how many of each you will need.
• Finish up by purchasing the drawer panel pack that matches your configuration (also in the table), and that’s it – just select your handles and you’re ready to start assembling.

how to measure for your benchtop
To get started, work out your benchtop requirements and you’re ready to start creating your new kitchen.
Check your cabinets are level and square by placing a spirit level on top of your base cabinets. If not, cabinets should be adjusted before proceeding.
single roll v double roll
Single or double roll refers to when the laminate is rolled over one or two longer sides of a benchtop. Also known as single or double post formed edges. A single roll is used when one of the long sides is visible (the front of the benchtop) and the other is against a wall, whereas a double roll is used when both longer sides are visible, like on an island.
single edge v double edge
Single or double edge refers to the ABS/PVC strip on one or two longer sides of a square edge laminate benchtop. A single edge is used when one of the long sides is visible (the front of the benchtop) and the other is against a wall, whereas a double edge is used when both longer sides are visible, like on an island.
benchtop considerations
Here's some helpful information to consider when choosing a benchtop that's right for you.
Supporting legs are required when an overhang exceeds 300mm. The maximum distance between each supporting leg should be 800mm.
Gloss laminate benchtops may be susceptible to scratches, refer to our care and maintenance document for more information.
Colour variations may occur with our timber benchtops as they are a natural product.
Grain and patterns on bamboo, timber, timber look and stone look laminate benchtops may not always line up at joins. Take this into consideration when choosing your benchtop and designing your benchtop plan.
Overhang for safety corners needs to be a minimum of 30mm to avoid exposing end panels.
Care & Maintenance. As with any other interior surface, your benchtops should be cleaned regularly. In most cases all you need is a cloth and warm water or a mild detergent; almost all regular household cleaning products can be used. Certain factors and circumstances such as benchtop material and age, as well as the type of stain do require more care. For specific cleaning instructions please visit the product page at kaboodle.com.au
Measure the length of your kitchen remembering to include all filler and end panels. It is best to start from a wall and measure outwards. Add 20mm for the overhang or 30mm where safety corners are used.
Measure the depth of your kitchen from the back of the wall to the front of the doors/drawers.
how to draw your benchtop layout
1. Enter the measurements of your benchtop in one of the pre-set layouts in the order form or simply draw up your kitchen in the personal design area.
2. Mark on your drawing the location of walls, edge strips, safety corners and postformed edges:
O postformed edge (refers to the profile of the benchtop e.g. compact radius or square edge)
W wall
X edge strip (available on customisable benchtops only)
/ indicates a safety corner (available on customisable benchtops only)
5. Label each individual benchtop piece with a letter and work out their length, as shown in the example below.
3. Mark your corner joins. A corner join between a 600mm and 900mm (or a single postformed edge and a double postformed edge) should always run the width of the 600mm (or single postformed edge) benchtop. Sink or appliance cut outs must be a minimum of 300mm from any benchtop join.

4. If you require a straight join, sink or appliance cut outs must be a minimum of 300mm from any benchtop straight join.

important for laminate benchtops
If a benchtop is cut in its length for any reason, you will have affected the length of that benchtop by a minimum of 30mm. This is the tolerance set for all joins and must be considered when calculating the workable/useable length of individual benchtop sections.

DIY warrants that it will, at its option, repair or replace any LED lighting, wire baskets and inserts, steel frame shelves, hanging kitchen storage, waste bins or timber benchtops that suffer a failure due to a defect in the materials or manufacturing process within five (5) years from the date of purchase.

The benefits provided to you under this warranty are in addition to any other rights or remedies you may have as a consumer under any other law which applies to our products.
