Fay even goes to clients’ homes to see how they live, and then he and Rogers come up with solutions that improve daily life. These special touches have included a niche for golf clubs, a doll house, a dog palace, a kitty closet, USB charging stations, ballet barres, and custom shoe closets. “It’s just planning, and can be things that are in any price range,” Fay says. “It’s practical to put them in.” For the Inspiration Home, they went all out, with trademark special features, big and small, scattered throughout the home, including the spectacular home gym, a kitty palace and a built-in slide hidden in a wall. “We like the iHome because we want people to see the kinds of things we do,” Rogers said. “So it’s not just a pretty house at the end, but is something that helps educate people about their home, what they should look for, and what quality looks like.”

GET INSPIRED
Inspiration Home to Open Nov. 29 It’s the season to get inspired, and there’s no better place than the Inspiration Home. At this magnificent showcase home, decked out in unique holiday style, visitors will find more than 11,000 square feet of luxury, packed with ideas on how homeowners can enrich their living experience. Milestone Custom Homes owners Jerry Fay and Chris Rogers were enthusiastic about the chance to show the Upstate community what their company can do through the Inspiration Home. They have poured plenty of their creativity and ingenuity into the home, which features complex rooflines, stunning outdoor spaces, a resort-style pool and terrace, a smoothie bar, home theater, children’s playland with skylights and much more.
“We’ve always prided ourselves on being at the forefront with new products and new technology,” Rogers said. “We like bringing those things to Greenville more quickly than anyone else.” The Inspiration Home project is a collaboration between Milestone Custom Homes, Verdae – the developer of the 1100-acre master planned community, Postcard from Paris, and many more sponsors and project partners. Debbie Wallace, director of marketing for Verdae, said, “We’re excited to be a part of such an exceptional tour and we’re ready to show off all that’s happening here.” The Manor is one of several active neighborhoods within the 300-acre residential community and it brings

larger lots and luxury homes to the mix of home options. Besides being an ideal location, it’s also a walkable community connected by sidewalks and bike paths and a 20-acre central park. Tour visitors will see “an incredible example of luxury living during the tour, but we don’t want people to miss the fact that neighboring streets offer homes from the $200,000’s as well. This is a wonderfully unique place to live, with something for just about everyone.” Wallace said. Linda McDougald, principal and lead designer at Linda McDougald Design | Postcard from Paris Home, was pleased to be involved because “Milestone and Verdae do an incredible job, bringing the best of everything,” she said. She enjoyed working with Milestone on its previous iHome Tour in 2009, and also appreciated that the tour is a charity event that raises funds for worthy causes. She and her team oversaw all of the interior design specifications of the home, choosing materials for floors, wall finishes, tiles, countertops, plumbing and much more. They also furnished and accessorized the main level, including outfitting it with rugs and window treatments. Since the home already has owners, McDougald and her team worked to “support the clients’ desires from a style perspective, while creating a fresh approach to traditional for the Greenville market to see.” That included cool neutral tones and a look that is traditional, but with a

cleaner, more contemporary feel. And because the Inspiration Home Tour coincides with the holidays, the home features decor, provided by Embassy Flowers and Nature’s Gifts, that puts a new twist on traditional decorating. Jeff Lynch Appliance and TV Center pitched in to provide furnishings and interior design services on the second floor and terrace level of the home, where comfortable furnishings and European-style fabrics overlook the 55,000-gallon saltwater pool, which includes a lap lane and hot tub. A unique folding-door system opens the main-level to the resortstyle backyard. Wallace, Fay, Rogers and McDougald said their teams, as well as other key contributors, put a lot of time into the Inspiration Home project, but the final results show the work has paid off. All are proud to showcase a jawdropping home that will leave area homeowners dazzled and inspired. And each member of the development team is proud to help the fundraising efforts of two important charities. “It’s fun to hear people’s comments when they see the home,” Rogers says. “It’s very satisfying. And the charities can raise a tremendous amount of money through ticket sales. That’s a cool way to tie in with something that is more important than building an amazing house.”
