Dear Sir/Madam, After working two years in Amsterdam based office Space&Matter I feel like trying another direction in my architectural career. Since graduating I have learnt that what I enjoy most in design is engaging directly and physically with problems and implementing actual design solutions. Having achieved my Masters in TU Delft in the Netherlands and Bachelors in Oxford Brookes in the United Kingdom was a wonderfully diverse experience, with projects that spanned from Urbanism in Chicago, Housing in India, Landscaping on Dutch and Portuguese Islands and Parametric Design in Amsterdam. These institution also attracted many inspirational professionals, symposiums and workshops which inspired greatly and broadened my educational horizons. Beside my academic education, I have also gained a professional experience in Berlin, Paris, London and Tokyo. This has nurtured a desire for an international approach to practice and a thirst for global culture to enrich design developments. I feel that this is crucial in our post-crisis and ever more interconnected society for the role of the ‘spatial agent’. Alongside this global understanding, my interests very much lie in local processes, from the workings of community networks and resource management to indigenous crafts and traditional making. I have always relished the act of making and have often tried to make it the crux of my design process - “head, hand and heart combined.” I love building and spend my free time making as much as I can – from bikes to kitchens and volunteering for anyone who will give me some material and ideas. And I love sharing this passion for making, design and craftsmanship with as many people as I can. This is why I am sure that your practice would be an ideal place for me to further my career, as we share common ideals and have similar visions of how to shape the world around us.

EDUCATION 2015 TU Delft. Delft, Netherlands. MA Architecture Degree 2012 Oxford Brookes University. Oxford, UK. BA Architecture Degree 2008 Chelsea School of Art and Design. London, UK. Diploma in Art Foundation

Charity Dollhouse

A vision of how citizens can take control of their foodsystem. A 2metre square model at 1:100 showing various elements of future food systems. All elements were carved from white foam and the model also includes intergrated LED strips to light the scenes.

We were asked to design a doll house that will be auctioned for a disabled children charity. It contains 5 scenes, which rotate around a stationary bed. The child is no longer constrained by his/her illness, but instead is taken on a journey through an endlesssly exciting world where adventures and experiences are limitless. Oak veneer & gold leaf on MDF and LED backlight. The scenes are 12 layers of lazercut perspex.

pollution.............. The Why Factory : TU Delft : Delft, Netherlands Architectural Studio, Biodiversity House. Research project for The Why Factory about creating habitats for animals within cities. We explored data analysis and algorithms to create the most efficient and effective distribution of various different projects. Worked in a group and as a studio to create a publication and a book.

The Pollution Filter The Pollution Filter takes the 10 most interesting projects and passes them through a cloud of urban pollution. The graphical representation of the quantity of polluton that is attenuated by each filter refers to the 10m square grid on the base of the model. The relative strengths of each filter were calculated bases of research data for each specific situation. Pollutions: Water Soil Organic Waste Rodents Strays Air Pigeons Temperature Filters: Mussel Bridge Ant Regeneration Centre Ecological Sound Barrier Gap:Greenhouse Pigeonnier Falcon Tower White Roof The Stray Sack The Pied Piper Scavenger Recycling Centre

through it verb: pass (a liquid, gas, light, or sound) through a device to remove unwanted material

its effects apparent and easily quantifiable. All you need to do is identify the type of pollution present and then choose the required solution.

Institute of Imaginary Islands : Berlin, Germany Exhibition/Graphic Design, Raumlabor + SLF Studio Lukas Feireiiss was asked to create an exhibition for the 2012 'Die Grosse Welt Ausstellung' (The Big World is Unfair).

An island can be a lot of things. In literature, film, and philosophy it is alternately described as a place of retreat, as a vanishing point for the desire As well as presenting an exbition on the for social change, but also as a prison and as a site of banishment. It is the concept of imaginary islands. We also designed and built the buildings for theof show allegorical expression ideas that their inventors have of the world, and at Templehof with the help of Raumlabor ofwillthe have for life. The island thus becomes a metaphor of and host desires workshops they for schoolchildren in humanity’s which they will create their own private of boundaries and the societies that we live in. It is transgressing island- and perhaps learn something about thethe society they live along theout way moral-philosophical questions. It is a question of the place toin carry conflict between nature and culture, naturalness and civilization, individual and society.

“Personal sunshine” is about cosiness, warmth, friendship, and families of any type where personal values are the source for inspiring happiness and a balanced lifestyle. A unique “personal sunshine” photo collage created by Lukas Feireiss, the original photo was given a psychedelic touch by passing it through a digital Kaleidoscope. The final result was then refined and printed on various fashion pieces.

SPACE MATTERS : Lyns, Austria Symposium & Think Tank

OB1 LIVE

The symposium offers a critical yet playful dialogue between experimental positions from a wide range of disciplinary and cultural contexts, which highlight an inspiring extension of the standard definitions of space and spatial practice. The numerous internationally-renowned participating speakers from different generations are, despite their different approaches, all characterized by an inborn desire to experiment, to dispute the norm and to break original and untouched ground. Studio Lukas Feireiss organised a Symposium in Linz entitled SPACE MATTERS. The 2 day event consisted of talks and discussions form various creative talents that questioned and highlighted the importance of spatial design strategies in the current architectural discourse.

A Ticket Booth designed and built by a selection of Oxford Brookes University, School of Architecture Year One Students for The Creation Theatre Company. The booth was used for ticket sales over the summer of 2009.

I briefly helped organise the logistics of the project and then was a very happy spectator and participant.

SCALE MATTERS : Delft, Netherlands Symposium & Workshop International Design Seminar, shortly Indesem, is held every two years at the faculty of Architecture in Delft. Every edition students from all over the world will tackle the important current issues that have influence on our profession. This year Indesem will explore the tension between scales. While skipping through scales, architects and urbanists try to cope with a wide range of problems. In what way does scale matter?

BUILDING ATMOSPHERE : Amsterdam, Netherlands Workshop & Lecture “What do we mean when we speak of architectural quality? It is a question that I have little difficulty in answering. Quality in architecture … is to me when a building manages to move me. What on earth is it that moves me? How can I get it into my own work? … How do people design things with such a beautiful, natural presence, things that move me every single time. One word for it is Atmosphere.” — Peter Zumthor. A workshop and lecture with Peter Zumthor and Juhani Pallasmaa looking at the process behind building and their atmospheres.

» »RECOMMENDATION OF KAEGH JOSHUA ALLEN : BERLIN: 29.03.2012« To whom it may concern, Please accept my enthusiastic recommendation of Kaegh Joshua Allen to your Office. Over the course of the last months I have followed his personal and professional trajectory, and feel strongly that with his high level of experience and intellect, Kaegh is poised to become an increasingly valuable asset to your team and to the field at large.

«

Kaegh has been working with me since the beginning of the year in my studio. During this period Kaegh has worked independently and extremely proficiently on numerous international exhibition projects such as „Testify! The Consequences of Architecture“ orginally curated for the Netherlands Architecture Institute and then on show at the Deutsches Architektur Zentrum in Berlin, and the upcoming exhibition „Institute for Imaginary Islands“,as well as the interdisciplinary symposium „Space Matters. Exploring Spatial Theory and Practice Today“ which I am hosting at the University of Art and Design Linz, and a variety of publications related to the fields of art, architecture and design. Thereby Kaegh has proved not only as an indispensable working partner in both the intellectual reflection and conceptualization phase as well as the more pragmatic and hands-on realization and implementation phase of various projects. He is, furthermore, a great team worker, socializing well with the diverse international clients and artists. Having grown up in Colombia and the United Kingdom, he is highly culturally sensitive and able to work well under difficult circumstances and pressure. While working towards his B.A. in architecture at Oxford Brookes University Bard, Kaegh had already gained experience in the professional industry. In his work Kaegh has attained an extraordinarily deep, nuanced understanding of both art, architecture, and theory as it relates to other disciplines and to society at large. His broad understanding of architecture and the urban realm as a cultural project is grounded in a solid comprehension of history, philosophy, and theory, along with ability to synthesize contemporary and emerging practices. I have no doubt that Kaegh will continue to develop his talents as a team member of your office and that he will contribute as much to the process as he ultimately receives. I am pleased to offer my strongest recommendation for Kaegh Joshua Allen.

SINCERELY, LUKAS FEIREISS
