SHEUNG WAN
Sheun Wan is located in the North West side of Hong Kong Island where known as the begginning place of the Hong Kong’s modernhistory. In 1842, Hong Kong started modernize because of the colonization by England, and they started to urbanize Hong Kong from the Possession Street which closed to Queens Road Central. Nowadays, Sheung Wan is the famous town to visit because of the contrast of modern buildings and old architecures. This book introduces the charm of the city with photographs of the city.
上 環 香港島中西部に位置する上環は、香港近代史始まり の地として人々に親しまれています。 １８４２年、 「 四環 九約」 と呼ばれた英国による植民地化当時、入植者 が集住した地域として知られており、皇后大道中にほ ど近い水坑口街から、英国人による香港の近代化が 始まりました。昨今では、隣接する中環と共にビジネス 街化が進み、古い町並みと高層ビルのコントラストが 映える、観光客にも人気のエリアです。本書は、 そんな 上環の魅力を紹介する一冊です。

1 Bonham Strand Bonham Strand is a combination of two streets in Sheung Wan, Hong Kong: Bonham Strand and Bonham Strand West. The streets are named after Sir George Bonham, the third Governor of Hong Kong (1848–1854), who led the reconstruction effort of Sheung Wan after a fire destroyed part of it in 1851.
文咸街 文咸街は、 トラムの駅からほ ど近い文咸街東と文咸街 西からなるストリートです。 道の名前、文咸（ボンハム） は、上環の近代化に尽力し たジョージ・ボンハムの名前 をとって付けられてました。 古い高層ビルが立ち並び、 所狭しと看板が並んでいる 様はいかにも香港、 といった 呈で圧巻です。

Hollywood Road Park Hollywood Road Park is an urban public park in Sheung Wan. In maps of the 1980s and before, Hollywood Road Park is marked as Possession Point. Upper Lascar Row / Cat Street Lascar Row, better known as Cat Street, is a narrow alley in Mid Levels, Hong Kong. In the past, locals joked that if you had something stolen, you were almost certain to find it for sale back in Cat Street. In Cantonese slang thieves are called rats, and the dealers who purchase goods from the rats are cats. Thus this street is also known as “Cat Street” in Cantonese.

Gough Street is a street on Sheung Wan, Hong Kong just north of the Soho area of Central. Historically, many printing presses were located on Gough Street. Kau Kee Restaurant, a noodle shop that specializes in beef brisket noodles in clear soup is also located there.

6 Des Voeux Road Des Voeux Road Central and Des Voeux Road West are two roads on the north shore of Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong. They were named after the 10th Governor of Hong Kong, Sir George William Des Vœux. So many landmarks belongs to Des Voeux Road West and Central. Also, the famous transportation, tram, runs in Des Voeux Road West.

Western Market Western Market is one of the oldest structures in Sheung Wan, Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong. The current structure was the North Block of the original Western Market. Western Market came into business in September 1844. Inside the building, there is several unique stores such as cloth shops and the professional store for the mini cars.
西港城/ウエスタンマーケット 西港城香港におけるもっとも古い建物のひとつとして知られています。以前は上環街市 と呼ばれており、当時使われていた建物の北セクションを現在の西港城として使ってい ます。店内にはユニークな専門店が多数かまえており、特にキルトショップや、 ミニカーの 専門店が人気です。

Many local people visit there for daily shopping to get cheap foods. Also, in the top floor, there is a food centre where can get nice local food in cheap price.

This park is located in the Sai Ting Pun where about 10 minutes work from Sheung Wan. This is a water front park and faces the VIstoria Harbour. Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park is the best place to chill, also, this park has the pubric swimming pool and ground where people can enjoy the sports.
いたところに位置する西營盤(サイイップ ン)というエリアにあります。 ヴィクトリアハ ーバーを臨む開けた公共公園で、都市部 の喧噪から離れるにはうってつけの場所 といえるでしょう。芝生のグラウンドや公共 のスイミングプールなど、格施設も充実し ています。

Tai Ping Shan Street is a street marking the early colonial history in Hong Kong. Located at the north slope of Victoria Peak in Sheung Wan. Tai Ping Shan is an alternative name to Victoria Peak, and literally means “Peace Hill”. There is many nice gallaries and restaurans located on this street.
による香港統治時代より存在する歴史の 古いストリートのひとつです。通りの名前に もなっている 「太平」は、広東語で平和を 意味します。現在では、 目新しい現代アート を展示するギャラリーやおしゃれなアンティ ークショップが建ち並ぶ若者に人気のスト リートになっています。

Mercer Street Mercer street is a relatively short street compare to the others; however, there is many good restaurants such as Dim Sum, Singapore, and Japanes food. In addition to that, there is small shops that profession about interesting staff such as the acuarium.

A Man Mo Temple is a temple for the worship of the civil or literature god Man Tai and the martial god Mo Tai. The two gods were popularly patronized by scholars and students seeking progress in their study or ranking in the civil examinations in the Ming and Qing dynasties.
