Introduction
Congratulations on the purchase of your Kaiser Baas Vinyl Converter. This user guide will explain how to connect the Vinyl Converter to your computer and how to install and configure the SoundSaver Express software.

Connecting the Vinyl Converter to your computer Connect the supplied USB cable to the rear of the Vinyl Converter –
Connect the other end into an available USB port on the computer. The computer will automatically detect the Vinyl Converter as a USB audio device –

Connecting your vinyl turntable If your vinyl turntable has an RCA audio cable attached, connect this cable to the left and right RCA audio inputs on the Vinyl Converter –
If your vinyl turntable does not have an RCA audio cable attached, you will need to provide this cable, so you can connect the turntable to the Vinyl Converter –

If your vinyl turntable has an earth connection, it is recommended to connect the provided earth cable as illustrated –
Connect the other end of the cable to the earth connection on your vinyl turntable –
If your vinyl turntable does not have an earth connection, the earth cable is not required.

Connecting your audio casette player You can connect your audio cassette player to the 3.5mm audio input on the Vinyl Converter. We have provided a 3.5mm / RCA audio cable in case you don’t have one –
Other devices with an RCA or 3.5mm audio output can also be connected.

Windows installation Insert the software disc into your computer’s CD / DVD-ROM drive –
If you see a flashing shield icon on your taskbar, select it and continue with the installation.
The following launch screen will appear –
You will have a number of options available. We have provided a PDF of the SoundSaver Express quick start guide in the ‘User Guides’ folder, a copy of Adobe Reader so you can view PDF files in the ‘Utilities’ folder and our tutorial videos in the ‘Videos’ folder.

Click the ‘Install’ button to install the SoundSaver Express software. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation. To run the SoundSaver Express software, click ‘Start’, ‘All Programs’, ‘BIAS’, ‘SoundSaver’ then ‘SoundSaver Express’. You will see the following screen –
Click ‘Authorize’ and then click ‘Yes’. You will now see the following screen –

Select ‘BIAS SoundSaver Express 1’ and enter your email address and serial number. The provided serial number is located on the front of the disc sleeve. An internet connection is required to authorize the serial number. After you have input the serial number, click the ‘Submit’ button. When the serial number has been authorized, you will see the following screen –
Click ‘ok’ then click ‘Done’.

Mac Installation Insert the software disc into your computer’s CD / DVD-ROM drive –
Double click the CD icon, double click the ‘Mac’ folder, and then double click the ‘SoundSaver Express Installer.mpkg’ file to install the SoundSaver Express software. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation. We have provided a PDF of the SoundSaver Express quick start guide in the ‘User Guides’ folder, a copy of Adobe Reader so you can view PDF files in the ‘Utilities’ folder and our tutorial videos in the ‘Videos’ folder.

To run the SoundSaver Express software, click ‘Go’, ‘Applications’ and then double click the ‘SoundSaver Express’ icon. You will see the following screen –

Select ‘BIAS SoundSaver Express 1’ and enter your email address and serial number. The provided serial number is located on the front of the disc sleeve. An internet connection is required to authorize the serial number. After you have input the serial number, click the ‘Submit’ button. When the serial number has been authorized, you will see the following screen –

Configuring the SoundSaver Express software
You will now see the SoundSaver Express software on-screen –
Click the ‘Preferences’ button then click the ‘Audio’ tab –

For ‘Input’ select ‘Line (CM6317A USB Capture Device)’. For ‘Output’ select your default sound device. Click the ‘Browse’ button to select a location on your hard drive for the recording directory. Click the ‘OK’ button to continue. You are now ready to capture from your vinyl turntable or audio cassette player. For more comprehensive instructions on the SoundSaver Express software, please have a look in the ‘User Guides’ folder on the software disc. The Vinyl Converter has a headphone output, so you can connect a pair of headphones to monitor the playback of your vinyl record or audio cassette during capture – RCA audio input

When the Vinyl Converter is not in use, press the power button to turn off the device –
Software license information The serial number for the SoundSaver Express software provided with the Vinyl Converter, can be used on two computers, for example, two computers running Windows, two Mac computers or one Windows computer and one Mac computer. If you need to install the SoundSaver Express software on a different computer, you will have to deregister the serial number using the BIAS Authorization Manager. While the serial number can be used to authorize two computers, it is a single license – both authorizations require the same email address. If your computer has broken down or have been unable to deregister the serial number, additional authorizations can be requested.
