When I was 15 I was given a piece of advice, “look at the bigger picture.” You see most of my pictures focused on little things, the little bit of moss on a rock, a single flower petal. They suggested I focus more on zooming out, showing people the whole story. They were’t by any means an expert and they meant well, but let’s just say you shouldn’t tell me no. I started in earnest to only ever focus on the tiniest details I could find. Their advice had the opposite effect, but I did start to think about why I was doing what I was doing. In the end I came to the conclusion that sometimes you don’t need the whole story. By only showing a piece of it I can allow people to create their own. I could build a whole scene and tell you exactly what’s going on, but then you’re just a bystander. I want you to be involved, to interact with my images. Images can tell a story, but I want mine to tell thousands.
