跨界的對話，跨代的合作 Intergenerational Dialogue Interdisciplinary Collaboration
沒有原創就沒有文創，沒有好的雕塑作品，那就遑論雕塑與環境、空間的依存關 係。2011 BenQ 國際雕塑營的主題，「跨域對話 ─ 雕塑與環境•空間的對話」， 鼓勵藝術創作，肯定原創精神，同時也要與創作者一起思考，學習如何謙卑的面對 自然環境，探討材質與造型在空間中扮演的角色，創作與環境及建築場域，和諧相 融交相輝映的雕塑作品。 繼 2010 BenQ 國際雕塑營，以「臺灣生命力，雕塑新視野」為主題，獲得國內外 藝術家廣大的迴響。這次拋出雕塑與環境空間的議題，呼應明基友達基金會，長期 以來致力「親善大地」與「關懷社會」兩大主軸，鼓勵原創藝術及文化保存的努 力。另一方面，也藉此喚起大家珍惜地球資源，重視生態環保，善盡地球社會公民 的責任。 2011 BenQ 國際雕塑營，來自40 個國家173 件作品投件參與，經過嚴謹的過 程，由評審委員選出11個國家的藝術家與20件作品，在北埔麻布山林進行現地創 作。為深化 BenQ 國際雕塑營的內涵，創作過程中也舉辦「BenQ 國際雕塑研討 會」，邀請國內大專院校相關系所、雕塑團體與獲選的國內外藝術家交流，分享 東、西方文化經驗與創作心得。也特別邀請到新加坡籍的雕塑家蔡汶家老師，在麻 布山林孟竹廳展出 28 件的「3D 書法雕塑展」。華人第二代的蔡汶家老師鍾情於書 法之美，將草書的東方意境美感融入現代雕塑，突破了平面文字的侷限性，聯結了 傳統與現代，不但讓文字鮮活起來，也為雕塑創作提供一個嶄新的思維。 「求新求變」是我對 BenQ 國際雕塑營策展的堅持和想法，除了避免時間一久淪為 「辦活動」的例行公事，而失去明基友達基金會鼓勵原創精神，和傳承雕塑創作的 初衷和意義，更希望「現地創作」的形態能與時俱進，嘗試隨時加入新的雕刻元素 與媒材，導入更多元的創作觀念和前瞻性的視野，讓 BenQ 國際雕塑營在鼓勵原創 藝術的同時，也成為引領國際雕塑發展的重要平台。

Culture and creativity come from originality. If there are no good sculptures, then there are no dependencies amongthe sculptures, environment, and space“. Conversation among Sculpture, Environment and Space”of the 2011 BenQ International Sculpture Workshop inter-field theme aimed to encourage artistic creation and approve spirits of originality.Furthermore, the theme hoped to think and learn with creators to humbly face natural environment, to explore the roles of material and style in space, and to create sculptures that are in harmony with the environment and architecture. After the“Sculpting a New Vision of Taiwan’s Vitality”of the 2010 BenQ International Sculpture Workshop received a broad response from domestic and foreign artists, the theme of sculptures, environment, and space was mainly aimed to respond to BenQ Foundation’s long-term commitments in“Environmental Friendliness”and“Social Concerns”.“Conversation among Sculpture, Environment and Space”aimed to encourage original art and cultural preservation efforts. On the other hand, it also aimed to evoke citizen responsibilities of cherishing Earth’s resources and emphasizing on eco-friendliness. There was a total of 173 sculptures from 40 countries in the 2011 BenQ International Sculpture Workshop. After a rigorous selection process, 20 sculptures and artists from 11 countries were chosen by the judges to re-create the sculptures on-site at Mabuville, Beipu.To further enrich the 2011 BenQ International Sculpture Workshop, the workshop also hosted an international sculpture discussion forum during the process of creation and invited domestic scholars and sculpture organizations to share and exchange Western and Eastern cultural experiences and creative experiences. This year, the workshop invited Singaporean sculptor, Chua Boon-Kee, to display 28 sculptures of“3D Inauguration of Calligraphy Sculpture”in the Bamboo Hall of Mabuville. Chua Boon-Kee, the second-generation Chinese descendant, is in love with the beauty of calligraphy. Chua’s integration of cursive calligraphy; her modern sculpture breaks the limitations of texts, connects the tradition and the modern, and provides a new way of thinking for sculpturing.
