Emily Genauer was an art reviewer and columnist from 1932 until well into the 1980s, with regular writing posts on the New York World, the New York WorldTelegram, the New York Herald Tribune, Newsday, and the New York Post. She also worked for Harper's and in television. She won a Pulitzer Prize for criticism in 1975. Summary: UNMICROFILMED: Correspondence; writings for the New York Herald Tribune and other newspapers and periodicals; typescripts, manuscript drafts and notes, partial chapters of a book, and published writings by Genauer in the form of reviews, articles, and periodicals; photographs, including b&w prints and color transparencies; exhibition catalogs; and subject files, consisting of documents pulled together by Genauer in preparation for a proposed book of her memoirs (never written) on the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Art and Religion, Government and the Arts, World Fairs, and other subjects.
