If so, join us for our April 16 luncheon program where the regional administrator for the Montana Department of Transportation, Ed Toavs, will report on the highway projects that will be under construction this summer and in the future. This report will include an update on the $12.75M Bypass project that was approved for special federal funding through a petition by the City, County, State, and Kalispell Chamber. There will also be update on Reserve Drive, Willow Glen, Main Street, and much more. OFFICIAL 2019-2020 KALISPELL VISITOR AND COMMUNITY GUIDES OUT NOW The official Kalispell Guide just arrived from the printer last week and is flying out the door. This year’s guide is packed with photos, visitor and community information, and feature stories about several well-known local residents. The guides will be distributed through the Visitor Information Center, at travel shows in the U.S. and Canada, local lodging facilities, Glacier Park International Airport visitor center, and mailed to fulfill requests for visitor and relocation info. KCVB HOSTS MONTANA SPARTAN RACE MAY 4-5 The Montana Spartan Race has become one of the Flathead Valley’s best-known events with 7,946 registered racers from 46 states and 5 provinces competing in the Sprint and Beast Races last year. The 2018 event created more than $4,280,000 in economic impact in the Flathead Valley. The event draws racers ranging from uber-athletes to recovering couch potatoes. MONTANA INDOOR SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP Fast-paced soccer action drew 45 regional youth teams to the Montana Indoor Soccer Championship at the Fairgrounds Trade Center. The number of teams competing in the event increased 29% over last year with clubs traveling from Washington, Idaho, British Columbia, Alberta and western Montana in addition to local teams. APPLY NOW FOR THE NEXT CLASS OF LEADERSHIP FLATHEAD Our leadership development program, Leadership Flathead, is now accepting applications for the Class of 2021. Businesses and organizations interested in sending an individual through the program should find more information and complete the application process here by May 1, 2019. The program requires a two-year commitment from participants. The Class of 2021 will begin with an overnight development retreat in September 2019, followed by nine monthly skills-building sessions through June 2020. To supplement the training they receive during the first year, participants are expected to assume a new leadership role with a community organization or engage in a community-based project of their choosing during their second year of the program. Leadership Flathead is intricately designed to develop tangible leadership skills, increase awareness of significant local issues, and build a tightly knit network of community leaders all while strengthening the ability of current and emerging leaders to spearhead positive change in the Flathead Valley. Throughout the course of the program a variety of custom designed sessions from community and industry leaders focus on topics such as education and workforce training, public safety, culture and tourism, human services, and planning, growth and government. Additionally, a skills building theme is integrated into each of the sessions and include activities that reflect conflict resolution, strategic planning, organizational change, and collaboration. Since its inception in in 1990, Leadership Flathead has seen over 750 individuals from more than 200 local businesses complete the program, many of whom are now engaged in the community though elected offices, on government committees and boards, as heads of local non-profit organizations, or as stronger leaders in the organizations with which they work.
