A Message from Justin Siberell, U.S. Ambassador to Bahrain Welcome to the USA Partnership Pavilion at the Bahrain International Air Show, the fastest-growing air show in the Middle East. I am delighted to see the strong U.S. presence at the Air Show. Over 25 U.S. companies and entities are exhibiting here, demonstrating the strength and diversity of the U.S. aviation and aerospace sector -- one of the largest and most powerful industries in the United States, and indeed the world. Bahrain’s aviation sector is growing rapidly, and the Kingdom offers many potential opportunities for U.S. companies in the defense and commercial sectors. The U.S.Bahrain security partnership is one of the oldest in the region, extending more than 70 years. As home to the U.S. Naval Forces Central Command and the U.S. Navy Fifth Fleet, Bahrain embraces U.S. technologies and capabilities in aerospace and defense. Bahrain is a rapidly growing market for U.S. defense firms, and American companies have unparalleled business opportunities as the United States and Bahrain work closely together to accomplish shared security goals in the region. Commercial opportunities in Bahrain are also expanding, with a number of major projects taking shape. Bahrain International Airport’s modernization program is proceeding rapidly, with billions of dollars in aviation -related infrastructure spending underway. U.S.-made aircraft, parts and service companies have the expertise to compete in this commercial aviation market, which is forecast to grow from 8.7 million passengers per year today to 14 million by 2036. National carrier Gulf Air is making significant investments to augment its fleet, routes, and frequency of service. Meanwhile, Bahrain’s National Space Science Agency, created only this year, plans to launch the Kingdom’s first satellite into orbit within two years. U.S. firms possess the technologies and expertise to support this mission. I hope that the Bahrain International Air Show will provide you with excellent opportunities to develop new contacts, or to build on existing relationships, to further our already strong bilateral commercial and security partnerships.
