5 things you have learned on the programme so far : • Time management- using a small calendar to plan what to do each day, check lists • How to quickly generate and put ideas on paper • Creative sector- ways/where to find jobs, different types of companies, freelancing • Experimentation- combining various processes and materials, not being discouraged when a piece doesn’t look good initially, experiment and improve on it • Focus on meaning behind an illustration, research into it, don’t focus just on the aesthetics 5 things you want to know more about: • Identifying an audience + brands/companies to aim my work at, marketing, negotiating prices, copyrights – info about contracts • Creating my own website- what exactly to put on it • Photoshop/ Illustrator – I need to improve my digital skills, go beyond editing, maybe do a finished piece fully digitally • How to create/what to include in a successful portfolio for a specific client • Taxes – all the legal stuff 5 skills that you think are your strengths: • Using and mixing various materials and processes together to create interesting visuals and convey the idea behind them – experimenting • Working under pressure ,handling many things at once – can be very useful when working on multiple modules and before deadlines
• Effectively communicating the subject my work’s illustrating, focusing on research- basing visuals on it • I’m critical and reflective of my work ,always take other peoples feedback and try to improve my work based on it • Don’t have a ‘style’ that I follow, create various types of illustration- positive for now, allows for exploration 5 things you want to improve: • This improved a lot half way through last year, but something I want to keep up this whole year: time management and attendance • Making my work a bit more presentable/clean ? I feel like often I approach it more like fine art and don’t care enough about the end touches that make illustrations look professional • Gif making, enjoyed it this year but they were very basic • My interest in social media, especially Instagram, it’s important for networking and finding an audience • Using my sketchbook more for rough ideas 5 practitioners that demonstrate your interest in illustration: • • • • •
