Three Rivers Camp with star beds (Kafunta Safaris)
If finding stunning new, or newly refurbished camps is what you seek, then Zambia has them in abundance. Whilst Three Rivers Camp (South Luangwa), Thorntree River Lodge (Livingstone) and Amanzi (Lower Zambezi) are all very new, many of Zambia’s finest properties have also been upgraded and enhanced for this season, making them more beautiful than ever. Whilst many destinations can offer rewarding game-‐‑viewing on foot, they never quite compare with Zambia – the spiritual home of the walking safari. It was here, in South Luangwa in the 1950s that the concept was created, by the legendary Norman Carr. Still to this day, Zambia is able to capitalise upon its outstanding guiding standards, with walking safaris described as a way to “feel nature, not just see it”. The small details are made large, to excite all of the senses, to create an enthralling and unforgegable experience. Walk this way.

Sat in front of a campfire clinking your ice-‐‑cold G&T, before tucking into a sumptuous 4-‐‑ course dinner, how often do you consider the work that’s gone into making it all happen? One remote walking camp’s nearest road is 10km away (and there’s no boat or air access either). So exactly how do the fridge, the sofas, the huge tables make it into camp? They’re carried, of course. Head behind the scenes to appreciate just how much camps do to deliver those memorable and often luxurious moments in the bush.

In Zambia, there are always amazing photo opportunities for wildlife enthusiasts, but nowhere quite compares to geging an incredible close-‐‑up, eye-‐‑level view in the various hides built in some prime locations. From close in on crowded bird nesting sites; to right alongside bustling watering holes and even in reinforced enclosures within touching distance of hippo pods, Zambia offers exhilarating game experiences. Ready to hide?

Rachael McRobb’s Tusk Award-‐‑winning work with Conservation South Luangwa (CSL) strives to ensure South Luangwa is securely protected with sustainable levels of wildlife and intact habitat under the custodianship of Zambian people. CSL supports 65 community based scouts to help ZAWA protect the flora and fauna of the Luangwa Valley, whilst detection dogs (some very newly arrived) are increasingly being used to reduce wildlife trafficking by detecting wildlife contraband. One of the most exciting trends in Zambia tourism has been the emergence of private safari houses – stylish properties offering high-‐‑end accommodation for parties of 2-‐‑10 from honeymooners, to families (including ‘multi-‐‑generational’) or small groups of friends -‐‑ but all booked on an exclusive basis. Doged in various locations across Zambia, these outstanding properties offer a new dimension in luxury travel. Come and explore…

Zambia has long been renowned for the high quality of its local guides. Godfrey here, is just one of the amazing personalities that we can arrange interviews with. He is the only black Zambian owning an international standard property in the country and his conservation-‐‑focused career across East and southern Africa, makes for fascinating story-‐‑ telling around the campfire. But there are many more amazing stories waiting to be told from a host of other exceptional guides in Zambia. Allow us to get you access to these individuals to provide real insight into Zambia, conservation, wildlife..and some scary moments in the bush.

Towards the end of each dry season, there are luscious fruits just waiting to be plucked from trees that are only accessible via Mfuwe Lodge’s reception area. And the local matriarchs know that all too well. So, without even stopping to check–in they annually lead their herds through the lodge entrance to the amazement and delight of guests. Or what about Konkamoya in Kafue where their success rate for finding elusive nocturnal aardvarks nears 80%? These are just a couple of the many magical wildlife moments that we can introduce you to in Zambia.

Despite being game-‐‑rich and providing stunning scenery, Kafue – one of Africa’s biggest national parks – is far less visited that many of its more famous neighbours. Similar can be said of North Luangwa, Liuwa, Kasanka and a host of smaller parks across the country.
Whilst there’s no lack of outstanding places to stay, things to do and places to explore, it’s also easy for the safari connoisseur to recognise that geging off the beaten track allows them to feel they have the place all to themselves. Let us help you leave the world behind.

Whilst Zambia is undoubtedly an elite destination, it is certainly not only for the elite to visit. From modest mid-‐‑range to high-‐‑end luxury, Zambia has accommodation to match every traveller’s needs, wants and pockets. Whilst it is home to some of Africa’s most romantic and exclusive boutique camps, there are also plenty of options for the budget-‐‑conscious. If you want to illustrate ‘affordable Zambia’, highlight the finest safari lodges on the planet or feature the entire range, then we can show you how. Check in over here, sir.

At its peak 500 million litres of water cascade over the 2km wide Victoria Falls, but during the drier months, the Zambezi drops quite substantially. After 1000’s of years of erosion, rock pools have formed including Devil’s Pool -‐‑ right on the very edge of the sheer drop. From mid-‐‑August to mid-‐‑January, it is possible to jump in. The view is totally exhilarating as you can feel the force of the Zambezi flowing past you. Dare you?

Historically, most wildlife enthusiasts visit Zambia during the drier months (May-‐‑Oct) when the dwindling water supply draws the game to the rivers, with the scorched earth leaving far less bush to hide from predators. But for those in the know, the green (or should that be the far more precious sounding Emerald) season offers an entirely different safari experience. The rains – often present for just a few short hours in the morning – clear to leave a new world of lush vegetation, intense colours and vibrant skies…along with a host of migratory bird species and newly-‐‑born antelopes.
