Welcome to the 29th annual Hot Nite in The City Show & Shine and Poker Run.
This year’s event will begin on Aug. 11 with the poker run, followed by the show & shine on Aug. 12.
It is hard to believe Hot Nite started as a one-block-long evening show in 1994 and today covers 13 blocks in the downtown core and welcomes thousands of visitors.
We invite one and all to come downtown and enjoy what we all love — vehicles and the friendships they bring. This year, as in past years, we have registered vehicles from the 1920s to more recent years, including trucks, cars, electric vehicles, bikes and transports.
A big thank you goes to the owners of these vehicles as it is the locals and those who travel to Kamloops who truly make our event successful summer after summer.
Nor would Hot Nite be possible without the sponsorship of businesses. Without their crucial help, the trophies, show cards, dash plaques, sound stage and every other part of the show would be non-existent.
Thank you, also, to the City of Kamloops and the Kamloops Central Business Improvement Association for allowing this event to continue to be held downtown.
Gratitude also goes to the Hot Nite organizing committee. Every member is important to the event as they all take on specific, important jobs and are extremely efficient at it. These are the people who bring it together.

Q: Where do I go to register for the poker run?
A: Registration for the poker run is at the Plaza Hotel, downtown at Victoria Street and Fourth Avenue, with registration taking place at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 11, which is the day of the poker run. The event will start at 3 p.m. and is expected to last about 2.5 hours.
Q: Where do I go on the day of the show?
A: On the morning of the show, Saturday, Aug. 12, all vehicles entering the event must come through the gate, which is at the intersection of Victoria Street and Sixth Avenue. When waiting to enter the show with their entry vehicles, participants are to line up on Victoria Street, with vehicles facing west, toward the downtown core. For the sake of time, absolutely no exceptions will be made.
Q: Can I leave the show whenever I want?
A: Unfortunately, no. Due to fire safety concerns, all participants who have a vehicle in the show are required to stay in the event with their vehicle until the show has concluded at 3:30 p.m. There are no exceptions.

1967 MUSTANG 2-DOOR CONVERTIBLE
Having a Mustang convertible from the mid- to late-1960s has been a dream of Denise Bouwmeester’s since she was 14.
Denise began to think, as the years went by, that it would never happen.
A friend then mentioned that he knew of a Mustang for sale in Burnaby and gave us the phone number. I called the number for six months and, one day, a gentleman answered. We went down and looked at the car, which was sitting in the back of a garage, dirty and not running.
But I loved it anyway. We got all the history on the car, plus original manuals and we are now the third owners.
Two years ago, I joined the Pharoahs Car Club and Pete and I always enjoy Hot Nite in the City.
Convertible specs:
• 289-2V Engine, C-4 three-speed
• Lime gold paint, Ford #2041-A
• Ivy gold decor vinyl bucket seats
• Built on March 28, 1967, in San Jose
• Sold through Dominion Vancouver Motors at 901 Seymour St. in Vancouver on April 11, 1967.
• It is one of 444 with this paint/ trim codes.

2015 TESLA MODEL S 85D
Brock took the electric vehicle plunge by purchasing a Tesla in May 2015.
Eight years and more than 160,000 kilometres later, the car is running well, has required little maintenance and still has 92 per cent of the original battery capacity.
Brock said it was a leap of faith
to buy the Tesla in 2015, noting it turned out to be an amazingly positive experience. He added that talking to people at Hot Nite every year has always been enjoyable.
Brock leaves us with this fun fact — his home solar array has produced more power each year than the car has consumed, meaning free fuel!

FEATURED VEHICLES 1985 CAMARO Z28
While growing up, Brooke Blower used to help dad work on cars. He always had projects on the go, but the one that made Brooke really want to get into cars was his 1986 Iroc Z.
As soon as Brooke got a driver’s licence, a savings account was started to buy a Camaro. Two years later after constantly looking, Brooke found this local and clean Z28. With only two previous
owners, the car was in great condition and Brooke thought it would be a great starting point.
Brook and dad went to look at it and struck a deal to buy it.
The Camaro is equipped with an LG4 and a 700R4. The interior and exterior are basically stock, with an upgraded Flowmaster muffler and stereo system. Brooke has only owned the vehicle for three months.

FEATURED VEHICLES MORGAN PLUS 8
Don Morgan bought his namesake Morgan Plus 8 in the summer of 2020, in the depths of the pandemic and lockdowns.
He had dreamt of owning a Morgan for 60 years, after going to Westwood in Coquitlam as a kid and watching the Morgans race. And, of course, he has the same last name.
Don spent about 10 months searching and, through the Pacific Morgan Owners Group, he was given ideas and advice and was invited to drive the different models. He decided he had to have the V8 and found one in California. However, due to pandemic restrictions, Don had to buy it sight unseen.
It was advertised as a 1989
Morgan Plus 8 with a 3.9-litre fuelinjected engine in good condition. The shipping and importation was easy and, within a week, the car was in Langley.
Don learned a few things:
• Do not drive an open-top Morgan up the Coquihalla Highway in July wearing a T-shirt. He froze.
• Buying sight unseen is not a great idea. He loves the car, but it turned out to be a 1986 Plus 8 with a 3.5-litre engine and a fourbarrel carb, not a 1989 Morgan Plus 8 with a 3.9-litre fuelinjected engine, as advertised. Oh, and the vehicle identification number was fictitious, a snafu that took almost a year to sort out.
• You can find out how to fix almost anything on YouTube.
