PORTABLE X-RAY MACHINE Crucial for immobile patients at RIH
T
he Medical Imaging department has been so thankful for their new Siemens portable x-ray machine Donated by the ICCHA/Wish Fund. Since May of 2018 they have performed over 1,000 portable x-rays with this machine allowing very sick patients to remain in their beds while they perform the x-ray. This machine is used for imaging patients in the Intensive Care Unit, Emergency department and on the wards from the very young to the very old. The next step to make full use of the capabilities of this unit is to locate funding to purchase a digital imaging plate. This digital plate will automatically send the x-ray image to the hospital computer system immediately after the image is taken so that the physicians can access it within seconds.
