NNotice to all Independent School District 332 Community Members: School safety is both a moral responsibility and a legal obligation to students, teachers and other school staff. The State of Minnesota and the Federal Government have legislated mandates regarding school safety that all schools must implement and uphold. While the implementation and obedience to the statutes does not guarantee a safe school, a combination of prevention efforts in addressing school climate, planning and facilities will assist in creating a safer school environment. These mandates will be sent home with students the first week of school. They are also available on the District’s website at www.moraschools.org or available upon request at the District Office.

8 - ADVERTISER, SEPTEMBER 6, 2020 and MDH to determine if Mora Schools will transition to a new phase,” wrote Mora Public Schools Superintendent Dan Voce in a letter to parents Aug. 31. Ogilvie will be re-assessing the learning model on Sept. 16. “Making this change was a decision not taken lightly. You have our commitment to always consider the safety of our students, families and staff as our highest priority,” wrote Ogilvie Superintendent Kathy Belsheim.

HIGH SCHOOL GOES HYBRID BY KIRSTEN FAURIE EDITOR@MORAMINN.COM School hasn’t started yet and both Mora and Ogilvie public schools have needed to change plans. Originally ready to hold inperson classes for all grades starting Sept. 8, classes for grades 7-12 have switched to a hybrid model of learning. Elementary classes will still be held in person. The hybrid learning model is a mix between in-person and distance learning. Students are di-

vided into “A” group and “B” group, then alternates which group learns from home, and which learns in person. The switch comes as Kanabec County’s 14-day COVID-19 case rate per 10,000 people climbed to over 10. “We will continue to analyze current COVID-19 Kanabec County case data weekly to determine the trend in cases. Our plan is to re-evaluate all data on or around September 24 with Kanabec County Public Health, MDE,
