1. Wildlife caught on camera: Tom Mortenson’s hobby is using game cameras to capture the great diversity of wildlife roaming his property in Ford Township, Kanabec County. He was recently able to retreive his cameras and found photos of many animals.

Leaders mull privatizing Welia Health: Welia Health (formerly FirstLight Health System) has proposed privatizing the county-owned hospital and its clinics into a non-proďŹ t corporation.

How To Package And Transport 1. Pack Carefully. Place containers in a cardboard box lined with plastic. Pack them in an upright position. Tighten all lids before transporting. If container is leaking, pack in a larger leak-free container; soak up leakage with kitty litter.
2. Transport. Place boxes in car trunk. If you must transport inside the car, keep the car ventilated, and place combustibles out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources.

Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act
CARES Act Grant for businesses and non-profits Eligible small businesses and nonprofit organizations in Kanabec County could qualify for up to $10,000 in grant funds based on certain guidelines and criteria. Grant funds may be used to help businesses and nonprofts respond to challenges faced by COVID-19. Examples include: lease or mortgage payments, front counter protection such as installation of plexiglass, technology equipment to accomodate telecommuting employees, personal protection equipment (PPE), etc. Grant awards will be based on number of employees and gross revenue loss. Grant funds do not need to be repaid. Completed applications must be received by Friday, October 30, 2020.
