It’s Better HERE!

Our Goal Is To Have Satisfied Customers! Mora Chevrolet Buick dealership owner, Ron Wolff, said, “Our goal is to make every customer happy, from the person who needs a new key cut to someone who needs a complete engine overhaul. Mora Chevrolet Buick employees are empowered and trained to take care of the customer’s needs and provide a convenient car-buying and service experience.” The dealership employs 23 full-time employees, reflecting a growth in recent years despite tough economic times. Part of its success stems from being part of the communities it serves, as a strong local employer and business providing essential services. That commitment includes maintaining an excellent selection of new and pre-owned vehicles; offering extensive maintenance, repair and detailing services; and having the dealership’s ASE-certified technicians meticulously inspect each pre-owned vehicle. Mora Chevrolet Buick is General Motors’ exclusive new-car dealership in central Minnesota from Milaca, to Wisconsin and north to McGregor. Wolff encourages everyone to check out the newest 2014 and 2015 models, “General Motors innovation has really captured the car-buying public’s imagination,” he said, “from the totally redesigned, best selling, car-of-the-year Impala to the doit-all Silverado. GM also provides a competitive lineup of economy vehicles with its Spark, Sonic and Cruze automobiles.” Many buyers find their dream car among the selection of quality pre-owned

automobiles including Impalas, Malibus and late-model trucks, as well as the previously owned Buicks that are always in high demand. The dealership also buys, trades or consigns all makes and models of vehicles. The Mora Chevrolet Buick owner says, “If we don’t have your vehicle on the lot, we’ll find it.” The well-established service department continually strives to provide topnotch service and convenience. Mora Chevrolet Buick offers comprehensive maintenance and repair service – including tires – for all makes and models including Cadillac and GMC, as well as discontinued brands such as Saturn and Pontiac. Customers shouldn’t be surprised to see a Ford or Chrysler in the shop since the service technicians are ASE-certified and skilled with other brands. Approximately 25 percent of the service-shop business comes from non-GM vehicle owners. They come to Mora Chevrolet Buick knowing they’ll receive skilled, professional and thorough service on their Ford, Chrysler or import automobile. Technology enhances the experience at Mora Chevrolet Buick as customers enjoy going online to browse the selection of cars or to make a service appointment. They can also stay informed about promotions through the dealership’s social media sites. “A car dealership should be a FUN place to go,” says Wolff. “Come see the changes taking place at Mora Chevrolet Buick. Customers will love the way we do business.”

Menagerie of Renowned Artists

M.O.M.’s Place Antiques, Collectibles Home Decór & More

Over 120 Local Artists & Crafters Made Of MORA (Menagerie Of Renowned Artists) is an arts and crafts shop located in downtown Mora. It features unique handcrafted gifts, home and cabin decor, glassware, pottery, art, woodworking, jewelry, textiles, and sundries – all produced by local artisans. Co-owner Jody Anderson came up with the “Menagerie Of Renowned Artists” acronym, which truly epitomizes the spirit of the shop. “We try to stay local as much as we can,” she said. “Made Of MORA carries items created within 50 miles of Mora. We started out with 12 consigners, and now have more than a120.” Located within Made Of MORA is M.O.M.’s Place (Made Of MORA’s Place), a specialty shop offering collectables, antiques, unique and hard-to-find items, Swedish treats, sewing supplies, notions, furniture, and vintage clothing. M.O.M.’s Place also offers sewing machine repair, handmade greeting cards, and gift certificates. Jody and husband Michael opened the business in early 2009 in an empty building that previously had housed a bicycle shop. Fears that the space would be too big for their needs were soon unfounded, and word got around about their unique array of merchandise. Jody and Michael continue to find new ways to meet their customers’ needs. “We have visitors year-round from all over the world, including during the Mora Classic Series events.” said Jody. “And as of a year ago, we are affiliates of the K-Bid online auction service. Michael is a licensed and bonded auctioneer.” Jody and Michael continue to innovate: soon adding to the mix a selection of gourmet chocolates, imported Swedish sweets, by-the-scoop ice cream, and old- fashioned “penny” candy. For a unique and memorable shopping experience, and an assortment of handpicked treasures and handcrafted gifts, visit Made of MORA/ M.O.M’s Place.

SNG Services Gunsmithing & Tool Sharpening

SNG Services is a gunsmith service, licensed firearms dealer, and full-service tool sharpening shop located just south of Mora, Minnesota. Owned and operated by Kanabec County resident Shawn Paul, SNG Services is a local company with a nationwide footprint. SNG Services • Repair and customization of firearms • Sale of new and used firearms

Paul has a nationwide reputation, and is often consulted by firearms professionals across the country to fix and solve problems. He raised his family in the Mora area, however, and is committed to serving the community long-term. He treats customers as friends, and shows the same care for their firearms that he does for his own. Paul values his reputation and guarantees his work, believing that “if it can’t be done right it shouldn’t be done at all.” SNG Services also provides tool-sharpening services. From drill bits to lawnmower blades to scissors and knives, Paul can hone just about anything with a blade. “I can sharpen everything but your wit!” he laughs.

AND TOWING

Mora Auto Service is a family-run auto repair and towing center located on Union Street in Mora. A certified NAPA Auto Care Center, the shop specializes in diagnostic and repair work for domestic and European vehicles including diesel engines. Dave and Tonya Peterson opened Mora Auto Service on March 5, 2012. “Tonya and I decided to make a job for ourselves,” Dave recalled. “A friend of ours was a brand-new rookie mechanic, who helped with the business for the first several months. We bought him out, and he moved on to a dealership. He helped the business get started, and we helped him get a start too.” “When we first started, it was just Dave and me,” Tonya said. “I’d go out and help him, and picked up a wrench. I learned to do oil changes, disc brakes, and hub assemblies.” “Tonya handles the business end, and deals more and more with the customers,” Dave added. “But she can step in and do quite a bit of my job.” Dave started his automotive training at Dunwoody Institute. “Through the years I saw Tonya, my mom, a classmate, and other people get taken advantage of with auto repairs. This gave me the standards I have today. Everyone deserves to be educated about what’s being done with their vehicle. We complete an inspection and an estimate first, then we don’t start any work until the customer approves it. If you don’t understand what’s going on, you shouldn’t be expected to pay for it.” Dave and Tonya’s family values are part of their business approach. “We’re building the business on Christian morals and integrity,” Dave explained. “We make sure things are right between us and the customers. And we’re kid-friendly. In the spring I’m hoping to put in a playground: a place for kids to play, and for parents to wait while their car is being repaired.” “We do our work well. We have one of the area’s lowest rates of customers coming back to have work redone. I pride myself on that. We know our work is done right.”

Hope Comes Alive Here LIVING H PE CHURCH

L vi Living Livi Li vin Hope Church is full of amazing testimonies! Pastor Steve says, “Our church is full of broken peop pe p that God is restoring including myself. This past year we have seen people healed of many people dis isea and sickness. We believe in divine healing and we believe in praying for people who are diseases sick ck God is answering our prayers! We have seen seven people healed of cancer this year. Every sick. wee m.” week we are praying with the sick and we are seeing God heal them.” N om Not only is God healing people, he’s transforming people from th the he inside out as people place their trust in Jesus Christ, devote ote th h life to following his ways, and sharing their story with th their ot t others. Pastor Steve says, “Living Hope is full of stories. God’s’s lo love is transforming lives and making new creations out off ppeople’s old rotten past. Each week I encourage people to sshare their story with others because when God transforms our ur life, answers our prayers, or heals our body it releases hope h ho ope op p in iinto hopeless eless ssituations tions and a people realize if God did it for them he can do it for me. Those stories become the bridge to sharing about God’s story of redemption. Here are a few of myy friends that God transformed this past year.”

Christy’s Story… If I had known then what I know now, I could have saved myself much pain. In 2009 I was planning plann anning my February uary wedding when I woke up one day with an agonizing pain running down my right leg. After weeks of sleepless nights and hundreds of shed tears I was finally told why. I had herniated two disks in my lower back and I needed surgery. Life was good until 2011. I re-injured my back that led to more pain and two more surgeries. The result put me into a wheelchair and my life dramatically changed for the worse. Around that time, I ran into a lifelong friend who invited me to her church. I figured it couldn’t hurt. Little did I know what God had in store for me. Within months of giving my life over to God, people praying with me, He healed me so I no longer need a wheelchair and I’m walking. Walking! Something I thought I would never do again. Since then God continued to heal my body to the point I can even do a little dance in worship to Him. And it’s not only me, but He’s healed my family. We all can tell a story of his great love for us. My friend may have guided me to Living Hope Church but it is by Christ alone that I am able to stand and tell you that by Him and Him alone you can be healed of whatever ails you. Tom’s Story… Growing up I never went to church. I grew up in a family where we worked every day. Throughout my life, I carried this same idea. Around a year ago, my home life took a drastic change. I was aat a crossroads. One morning after showing up for work, I shared with one of my co-workers who also is a great friend of mine, all of my pain I have been going through. This man, a believer in Jesus, sat with me aand listened to my story. He said it was time to turn my problems to the Lord and let Him help me. He had m mentioned a church in Mora with a pastor who used to be at his church rch h and told me I should go seee aand vvisit the church that night. vi That night they showed a Billy Graham special and God used it to change my life. It all started with the message and almost ev everything v that Pastor Steve was saying seemed to be meant fo for me. He prayed for people that night. Especially those wh who smoked cigarettes and wanted to be free from them. Wa Walking out of the church, there was something different in me. After that h night, i h I never touched h d another h cigarette i again. The problems I was having worked out in a way I would d never have imagined. My life turned a total 360 with God in my life. My attitude about so many different thingss changed, my days are much brighter, my outcome much larger, and my eyes are now open. April’s Story… I always believed in a “higher power” but never related it to God. It was something I never er understood and I was able to get along just fine without God. Sure, I dealt with what was handed to me, but I always ys felt there was something missing, a hole, an empty space that I was never able to fill or figure out. In the spring ng of 2013 I went through a rough time where my life was being torn apart and everything I tried for help failed me, but I felt f lt a desire d i to t go to t church. h h When Wh I went I thought, “What are people going to think of me; I don’t go to church, and people who go to church are weird and they have no fun.” I think God whacked me upside the head, because the church was the opposite of what I thought. During my visit I gave myself permission to let God into my life. Then His love, His presence, and His people came into my life. That day He started the restoration process! I wouldn’t change anything about my journey; my imperfections are what got me to this place in life, not to mention my ability to find a place for God’s help. Yes, I have a tendency to take a wrong turn here and there, but I love to worship now; praising God is one of the best feelings one could have. I feel His presence. God has enabled me to live in peace, a peace I can only explain as being carefree and exceptionally easy-going without worrying what comes next. I have an excitement about tomorrow because I’ve learned to focus on God, not me. God deserves all the credit for where I am today. No one could ever tell me I needed to go to church, or even speak of religion around me to get me interested, but when I encountered God’s love through Jesus, His church, and His people I’m forever changed!

After a short stint in Cambridge, Rubes' Mora branch opened in February 2013. Rubes Auto takes pride in hiring qualified local staff, and working with local businesses. I like to work. It’s good when you get done and see a final result, see things get accomplished.” Campbell is well known in the community, having lived in Pomroy Township most of his life. He and his wife of 50 years, Mary, have two married sons who live in the county, five grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. In his spare time he enjoys hunting, fishing and trapping. Campbell also assisted in the Hinckley Elementary School wrestling program. The Campbells are members of Quamba Baptist Church for more than 30 years, where Campbell served on various church boards and does his part to maintain the building. In addition, both are performing musicians: members of the Northern Lights Bluegrass Band. Campbell would appreciate your vote on November 4th. “I’m open to the people of the district,” he concluded. “I’m ready to listen, and to do everything I can to help.”

I am ready to listen and work for you to improve our community!

“Helping you to retain your Health & Vigor.” Vaagenes Chiropractic is a family-run chiropractic practice serving Mora, Shoreview, and surrounding communities. Our team is dedicated to chiropractic solutions that address a patient’s unique needs: whether neck or back pain, headaches, or muscular tightness and tension. Patients may require pain relief after an accident or injury, or when dealing with chronic back pain. Relief can often be found through a spinal adjustment, but we also help patients improve their overall health and achieve wellness goals. Dr. Timothy Vaagenes has practiced chiropractic care for nearly 24 years. The Shoreview clinic has served patients for 22 years; and the clinic in Mora, where he and his family live, has been open for nearly four years. Dr. Vaagenes promotes chiropractic care as a way to improve health and wellness in all areas of patients’ lives whether they are having problems with pain, or just want to feel better when they wake up in the morning. He takes a holistic, “whole-person” approach in chiropractic care: looking for underlying causes of disease, discomfort, and pain rather than simply treating a symptom. Dr. Vaagenes seeks to create personalized chiropractic and wellness plans to meet patients’ individual needs, and promote higher functioning in all areas of their lives. With our focus on holistic health, Vaagenes Chiropractic is a valuable local resource in the area of nutrition. The clinic provides nutritional counseling, and identifies food allergies and sensitivities. Our approach utilizes vitamins, nutritional supplements, detoxification programs, and lifestyle counseling to help patients attain their optimal health. At Vaagenes Chiropractic, your relief and recovery are our goals. New patients are welcome, and current patients are appreciated. Minnesota State Representative

Tim Faust

11B

FIGHTING FOR OUR COMMUNITY Historic investments in education

Representative Tim Faust put our community first, delivering positive results: • Increased funding for local schools by $4.5 million including funding for all-day kindergarten. • Paid back all of the $15,741,922 that was borrowed from our local schools under the previous Legislature. • 2,200 more homeowners in Kanabec and Pine Counties will see a larger property tax refund. • Authored a bill to provide state funding for senior nutrition programs in Greater Minnesota that were cut due to federal budget cuts. • Increased funding for our local nursing homes and caregivers.

Rep. Tim Faust made good on his commitment to pay back the money owed to our schools and voted to make historic investments in education—including all-day kindergarten for every Minnesota child.

Lower taxes for middle-class Minnesotans Lower taxes for middle-class Minnesotans thanks to the direct property tax relief passed by the legislation in 2013 and 2014, most residents of District 11B will be paying less in property taxes.

A stronger economy and more jobs More than 50,000 jobs have been created in Minnesota since the 2013 session began, which means all of the jobs lost during the Great Recession have been recovered.

A focus on Greater Minnesota After years of deep cuts to our seniors and the disabled, Rep. Tim Faust provided much-needed funding increases for our nursing homes and long-term care providers. Rep. Faust authored the bills to increase direct property tax relief for farmers, renters and homeowners.

Committed to making more progress for all of us! Vote Nov. 4, 2014
