FEB. 6 - MORALOPPET SKI FOR THE CAUSE The annual Moraloppet Ski for the Cause will be held Feb. 6 at the Nordic Center at 10:30 a.m. Registration is online only and is currently open until 10:15 a.m. race day. Bib pick up begins at 9:30 a.m. for 21km and 10.5km race distances, plus the 5km tour. Overall winners, male and female, will be awarded pink Dala Horses. No age class ribbons will be awarded, but race results will be available. The Moraloppet Ski for the Cause is a fundraising event benefiting the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation. Meanwhile, a few other dedicated volunteers with a passion for history and its preservation are preparing a host of displays as part of the Vasaloppet’s 50th celebration in 2022. The history committee is seeking photographs that capture the Vasaloppet throughout its 50-year history. Community members have a wealth of historical information since so many are volunteers, skiers, observers or have family members or friends who participate in the Vasaloppet. The Kanabec County EDA is now accepting applications for a new grant program for Kanabec County businesses made possible by the State of Minnesota. Applications are available online at www.kanabec-eda.org. Priority to receive grants through this program will be given to businesses affected by the Governor’s Executive Order 20-99. The application window for this program is January 20 through February 12, 2021. The application deadline is Friday, February 12, 2021 at 4:30pm.
