Let’s KEEP our High School. Vote V ote NO NO May May 23! 23!

How old is Mora High School, Really? School leaders want you to believe that it’s 80 years old. The Truth? Most Student classes are in a building that was built brand new in 1977-89. 28 years old. How well built is Mora High School? The City of Mora has it as the community Fall-out shelter – Thousands of yards of concrete and brick. Ready to fall down? Hardly. The oldest part has been updated in recent years. Tear it down? Nonsense What do taxpayers think about tearing down this Mora community icon? Look at the Kanabec Court House. The county commissioners in 2000 gave in to public pressure and remodeled the court house which is a building on the national historical register. The court house has been kept in town where it is convenient. Do the same with the high school. What would be the impact on businesses if we moved the high school out of downtown Mora?

Helping our neighbors for years

All buildings can have repair and updating issues. Yes, even a new building. The truth be known, school leaders do not have a good record of maintaining existing buildings. Why should taxpayers believe anything will change? We could have a run-down new school in 10 years. There is no trust here. No matter what school leaders say, we have a good high school. Just take a drive by, look for yourself. School leaders, “Stop the spin. Tell the whole truth. Just because you have a plan to move all students to Trailview, doesn’t mean it’s a good plan”. The community does not back this idea. Stop the spin, KCRE is looking out for the whole community. Matching state money is also available for large remodeling projects. School leaders did not tell you? Oh so much spin. If school leaders can’t come clean on these issues, how can we trust them with anything?
