MINNESOTANS WITH LOW INCOMES NOW ABLE TO PURCHASE FOOD ONLINE USING SNAP BENEFITS Almost 400,000 people who use the federally funded Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program in Minnesota now have more options to buy food safely. Starting May 28, 2020, they can purchase groceries online using their Electronic Benefit Transfer cards. For now, Walmart and Amazon are the only online retailers approved by the United States Department of Agriculture for SNAP purchases and available in Minnesota. The Minnesota Department of Human Services is encouraging other retailers to seek approval from the USDA so that SNAP recipients have more options. DHS oversees SNAP,

which counties and tribal governments administer. SNAP helps Minnesotans meet their food needs and avoid hunger. The average monthly SNAP benefit for each household member is $109 in Minnesota. Harlan “Butch” Louie Williams died on Monday, May 25, 2020, at the Abbott Northwestern Hospital. He was 70 years old. He was born on July 22, 1949, in Morris, to Harlan and Eveline (PaulM sson) Williams. He took great pride in a job well done, working many hours on the d ffarms to provide for his family. He was always ready to lend a hand to w neighboring farmers, friends and n ffamily. GRAND CASINO REOPENED JUNE 1 Grand Casino announced that it will reopen both Grand Casino Mille Lacs and Grand Casino Hinckley on Monday, June 1, 2020, at 9 a.m. Guests will notice a few changes at both properties to enhance safety. Both locations will reopen their gaming floors as smoke-free environments and is currently assessing the development of smoking lounges at the properties. Health and safety protocols include more-frequent cleaning and sanitization measures. Associate health checks will be conducted at the onset of each shift, and associates will be required to wear masks, which will be provided by Grand Casino. Here is what will be different starting June 1, 2020: -Guests will now be required to also wear a mask. A limited number of complimentary masks will be given at the property each day, while supplies last. -All guests must enter through designated guest entrances. -Grand Casino will be using non-invasive thermal cameras to scan the temperature of all arriving guests. -Most of the gaming floor will reopen smoke-free with some changes to accommodate social distancing. Bingo, poker and pull tabs will not be open immediately. -Both casinos will have food options available, such as Plums at Grand Casino Mille Lacs and Grand Provisions at Grand Casino Hinckley.
