Spousal maintenance is the payment of support by one spouse to the other spouse. How to prove the need for Spousal Maintenance? Spousal maintenance awards are granted if the spouse seeking maintenance can show the Court that he or she: • lacks sufficient property to provide for the reasonable needs of the spouse based upon the standard of living established during the marriage; or • lacks sufficient property to provide for the reasonable needs of the spouse during a period of the spouse’s training or education based upon the standard of living established during the marriage; or • is unable to provide adequate self-support, based upon the standard of living established during the marriage; or • is the custodian of a child whose condition and circumstances make it appropriate that the spouse not be required to seek employment outside the home. How to prove the amount and duration of Spousal Maintenance? To determine the amount and duration of spousal maintenance, the Courts consider the following factors: • financial resources of the spouse seeking spousal maintenance; • amount of time that is necessary for the spouse seeking spousal maintenance to acquire necessary skills or education to find appropriate employment; • age and physical and emotional health of the recipient spouse; • standard of living established during the marriage; • length of the marriage; • contribution and economic sacrifices of a homemaker including loss of seniority, retirement benefits and other employment opportunities lost while working at home; and • financial resources available to the spouse from whom spousal maintenance is sought. The Court will consider all factors when determining whether spousal maintenance is appropriate. The Court will not award spousal maintenance based upon a single factor. Spousal Maintenance Buy-Out: Instead of paying spousal maintenance over a period of time, it is advantageous in some cases to provide for a lump sum buy-out. This buy-out may be in a form of a property settlement or onetime cash payment to the spouse receiving the spousal maintenance. When deciding whether to accept a buy-out many factors must be considered including: (1) the present value of the marital assets; (2) the tax consequences of accepting the offer; (3) the value of the property being paid and/or received; and (4) the likelihood of payment actually being paid. In most cases, the buy-out will be less than that of the total value of spousal maintenance if it had been paid over time.“

MORA MUSIC IN THE PARK ANNOUNCES SUMMER LINEUP City of Mora www.ci.mora.mn.us Mora’s downtown Library Park will once again host a family-friendly summer concert series kicking off on Thursday, July 9, 2020. Musical performances representing a wide variety of genres will be offered to the public free of charge on Thursday evenings throughout July, August, and September. The fi nal concert will be held on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2020, 2– 4 p.m. in conjunction with Fall Fest, the second annual community event. Thursday evening concerts will begin at either 6 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. Library Park is located at 210 Maple Avenue W., Mora, MN 55051. In the event of inclement weather in July and August performances will be moved to the Mora Civic Center, 701 Union Street S., Mora, MN 55051 and in September at the Grand Event Center, 2025 Rowland St., Mora, MN 55051. JUNE 27 CARS AND COFFEE Cars and Coffee is meeting again. Meet at 9 a.m. in the back room at Freddies Restaurant, 810 S. Hwy. 65/23, Mora. It is usually held the fi rst Saturday of every month but will be held one week earlier because of the 4th of July.

JULY 7 SERVICE UPDATES FROM MORA SENIOR DINING Meals on Wheels delivery increases to twice a week. Hot meals are available Mondays and Wednesdays, and up to five frozen meals can be included for the rest of the week. Please call us at (320) 679- 4029 to reserve your Meals on Wheels delivery. Diners who regularly joined us for congregate dining can participate in “Grab & Go” frozen meals at the dining site 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. Please call ahead so your meals are ready for you to pick-up. The monthly food shelf meal distribution continues, on the first Tuesday each month. The next distribution is Tuesday, July 7, from noon – 1 p.m. outside the Mora Food Shelf. If you are not yet registered for any of the above senior nutrition programs, please call us at the Mora Senior Dining site (320) 679-4029. JULY 9 MORA MUSIC IN THE PARK At 6 p.m. the first summer Music in the Park will be held at Mora’s downtown Library Park

and will feature the children’s band, Bazzillions. In case of inclement weather the concert will be moved to the Mora Civic Center. JULY 9 MORA MUSIC IN THE PARK: BAZILLIONS Mora’s downtown Library Park will once again host a familyfriendly summer concert series kicking off on July 9, 2020. This week we have the Bazzillions, a children’s band. Th is is held at the Library park at 210 Maple Avenue West, Mora. ONGOING EVENTS PINE CITY SENIOR DINING The Pine City Senior Dining Program will be providing some hot meals for the meals on wheels clients and those that pick up their meals, including congregate diners. The hot meals will be provided weekly on Mondays and Wednesdays as follows: • Mondays: one hot, two frozen • Wednesdays: one hot, three frozen. For those that want to pick up once a week (either Monday or Wednesday) they can do one hot and six frozen. Individuals 60 and over are eligible for the Catholic Charities dining program. Those within two miles of Pine City can have their meals delivered. Meals listed in Senior Dining Section. Currently milk and bread will not be included. THANK YOU
