JULY 7 SERVICE UPDATES FROM MORA SENIOR DINING Meals on Wheels delivery increases to twice a week. Hot meals are available Mondays and Wednesdays, and up to five frozen meals can be included for the rest of the week. Please call us at (320) 679- 4029 to reserve your Meals on Wheels delivery. Diners who regularly joined us for congregate dining can participate in “Grab & Go” frozen meals at the dining site 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Please call ahead so your meals are ready for you to pick-up. The monthly food shelf meal distribution continues, on the first Tuesday each month. The next distribution is Tuesday, July 7, from noon – 1 p.m. outside the Mora Food Shelf. If you are not yet registered for any of the above senior nutrition programs, please call us at the Mora Senior Dining site (320) 6794029. We can complete the registration on the phone so no face-to-face interview is required. JULY 9 MORA MUSIC IN THE PARK At 6 p.m. the first summer Music in the Park concert will be held at Mora’s downtown Library Park and will feature the children’s band, Bazzillions. In case of inclement weather the concert will be moved to the Mora Civic Center.

Through our donors’ generous support, 39 seniors received Mora Dollars for Scholars scholarships this year. Among these scholarships, two are 4-year renewable. Each scholarship dollar amount is $1,400. This year, through the generosity of our community members, we were able to award several new scholarships.

The Mora Chapter of Dollars for Scholars has been awarding scholarships to Mora High School seniors since 1989. In the past 31 years, Mora Dollars for Scholars has awarded 1,087 scholarships totaling $1,335,250. The support and generosity of Mora citizens, alumni and businesses have allowed Mora Dollars for Scholars to give scholarships to help fund Mora High School students with the cost of higher education. Students who receive these scholarships are selected based on a combination of seven factors: their grade point average, ACT test results, work experience, community and school involvement, essays regarding goals and unusual circumstances and references. Fay Lockrem died Saturday, May 30, 2020 at Rosedale Nursing Home. She was 93 years old. She lived in Pine City from 1965 to 2015. A celebration of life will be held from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2020, at 101 South Prospect Ave., Ogilvie. Please come and help celebrate her life. She was a great woman. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.

Donald Koll died Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at the University of Minnesota. He was 91 years old. A celebration of life will be held from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2020, at his place in Ogilvie, 101 South Prospect Ave., Ogilvie. Please come and visit and tell stories about him. He was a wonderful man. Burial will be Monday, July 13, at Fort Snelling with honors.

August 11 - Fitness Fun Play in the park while learning new ways to enjoy being physically fit. August 18 - Water Works Be prepared to get wet with the Mora Area Fire Department. Enjoy fun water games, talk to the firefighters and see their trucks!
August 19 - Take a Hike Meet your friends at the park or make it a date night. Choose your hike with maps provided. Snacks, water and prize drawings! *Bonus night activity. Begins at 7 P.M. August 25 - Chalk the walk What can we create with chalk? Come find out! Treats and goodie bags too. All events will adhere to current CDC and Minnesota Department of Health COVID-19 guidelines.
