Marvin Bruce Myhre died on Sunday, June 26, 2016, at Essentia Health Care Center in Sandstone.

He was 75 years old.

He was born on Aug. 8, 1940, in Bemidji to Leroy and Arvith (Hand) Myhre. He had four siblings. Growing up, they lived in Dayton, Ohio near the Wright Airforce Base. When he was 8 years old, his mother passed away. The family then moved to Lino Lakes where he graduated from White Bear High School in 1958.

He started drag racing at the North Star Speedway in 1956 and later worked there as an announcer and flag guy until he became the drag strip manager. He also worked at the Applebaum’s grocery market in the Twin Cities area for over 18 years.

He was united in marriage to Eilene Marquardt in 1962 in Rush City. They bought a home across the street and down the block from where he grew up in Lino Lakes.

He started part time as chief of police in Lino Lakes in 1967 and switched to full-time in 1970. He

He had many hobbies: beekeeping, wood working, maple syrup making, master gardening, vintage cars, traveling with his wife, photography, collecting guns, collecting coins, playing banjo, reading, researching genealogy, spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids, hunting, computers, singing, camping, bird watching and telling many jokes, funny or not.

Marvin was preceded in death by his father and mother; stepmother, Helen; brothers, Bob and Dexter, and grandson, Dillon.

He is survived by wife, Eilene Myhre; children, Patrick (Joy) Myhre, Kelly (Scott) Nelson and Maureen Myhre; grandchildren, Kati (Nick) Eberhardt, Kayla (Brent) Kays, Kristine Thomas, Benjamin Myhre, Addie (Matthew) Verant, Cody Myhre, Emma Myhre, Janie Myhre, Samuel Chapin; stepgrandchildren, Becca Desjardins and Catie Nelson; greatgrandchildren, Noah Bowerman, Izabell and Cloe Eberhardt, Letty and Thea Kays; brothers, Ron (Gayle) Myhre, Clinton (Linda) Myhre, Alan (Tatiana) Myhre; sister, Kathy (John) Hubbard and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Memorial service was held on Saturday, July 9 at Akkerman-Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora.

Inurnment will be at a later date at Pony Lake Cemetery in Bemidji.

Description: Experience working with middle and or high school age EBD students; knowledge and experience writing IEP’s, knowledge of MN EBD criteria and the evaluation process including Functional Behavior Assessments; Knowledge of due process procedures; ability to work with a team; training or willingness to be trained in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI); and excellent oral and written communication skills.

1.0 FTE Position as: Middle Level/High School EBD position. Permanent and full-time starting in August 2016. Successful applicant must have a Minnesota EBD license for grades 7-12. Coaching/advisor positions may be available.
