Last week, the Kanabec History Center hosted a free Summer Art collaborative project for the kids of Kanabec County.

Five picnic tables on the History Center’s campus were transformed into works of art. The young artists worked together to map out designs on the tables with painter’s tape and then colored the remaining spaces with recycled paint.

Th is event would not have been possible without the collaborative efforts of community members donating paint, the board members of the Kanabec History Center helping to get the picnic tables paint-ready, and the 22 amazing artists who participated in refreshing this little bit of history.

Summer storm leaves thousands without power: Severe summer storms caused damage across Minnesota on Friday, Aug. 14, and Pine County was no exception.The Pine County Sheriff’s Office received reports of power lines and trees down in the Brook Park, Hinckley, Sandstone, Bruno, and Sturgeon Lake areas, and noted that area fire departments were out assisting with safety efforts in the aftermath of the storm.
