Because of your generosity we were able to give away over 100 door prizes worth $35 or more each. Thanks to you and the contestants it was a great success! We also want to thank all the members and their families and friends of the Ann Lake Watershed Alliance who worked so hard to promote this event! We couldn’t do it year after year without you. We had a cloudy but not too cold day with 42 fish caught. The largest fish winner was Todd Hass with an 8.5 oz perch, the second largest fish winner was Carla Simonson with an 8.2 oz perch and the third largest fish winner was Tim Mueller with a 6.6 oz perch. Darrell Claude McIalwain died peacefully in his home on Monday, Jan. 20, 2020, surrounded by family. He was born on Oct. 5, 1932, in Estherville, Iowa, the son of Claude E and a Hattie (Gentry) McIalwain. He attended school there until the 11th a grade when his family moved to g Ogilvie. O One fine evening, he went out to eat supper with his family at the Dew s Drop D Inn located in Mora. Little did he h know that his waitress that day would be the love of his life. He and w Edith (Rogne) were united in marE riage on Oct. 5, 1952. In 1953, he was r draft d ed into service and deployed to t Korea. He received an honorable discharge in 1955. The following year d they began to build their family. They had five beautiful children. For 38 years, he worked loyally for Arcon, holding different positions however his favorite was driving his lowboy. He was well-known and loved by many as the infamous ‘Mac’ a nickname that will live on forever. He spent his years hunting, trapping, raising hunting dogs, fishing, caring for the family farm, rooting for his children and grandchildren in sports and having coffee with his hunting buddies. Many of his friends will remember him by his CB name, Blue Leader. He is remembered fondly and with love by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Hattie McIalwain; siblings, Mary Johnston and Sharon Stigen; and granddaughter, Allison Grace Felde. He is survived by his wife, Edith; children, Darrell Jr. (Del) (Annie) McIalwain, Cheryl (Scott Baune) Visser, Donald (Lisa) McIalwain, Darcy (Chris) Wilke, Charity (Robert) Felde; siblings, Lela Kruse, Jenene Barbknecht, Troy Nelson; 19 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020, at the Lewis Lake Covenant Church, 1030 Grand Street, Ogilvie. Pastor Robert DeYoung officiated.
