AUG. 12 SOKOL CAMP BOOYA & PICNIC The 88th annual Sokol Camp Booya & Picnic will be held on Sunday, Aug. 12 at the Sokol Camp on the northeast corner of Cross Lake in Pine City (19201 Woodland Acres S). The event runs from noon to 5 p.m. Food available includes booya (a hearty soup/stew), cabbage rolls, Czech sausage, brats and kolache (Czech pastries). There will be live bingo, fun and games for children, music, the Czech-Slovaka Folk Dancers in full Czech costume and more. Th is event is open to the public and free to attend. There’s plenty of dock and shoreline space for those arriving by boat.

Minnesota (National Alliance on Mental Illness) that covers the three steps anyone can learn to help prevent suicide– Question, Persuade and Refer. JOE AND CAROL LUTZ CELEBRATE ANNIVERSARY Longtime Mora High School Athletic Administrator, Joe Lutz, and his wife, Carol, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Aug. 5, 2018.

It was held in the club room of the retirement complex, St. Therese at Oxbow Lake, 5300 Oak Grove Parkway North, Brooklyn Park, MN 55443, where they now reside in Apartment 226.

After residing in Mora for 62 years, Joe and Carol moved to the St. Therese complex in November 2017, to be closer to their children.

Joe spent 34 years at Mora High School in athletics and administration and Carol was in clerical work for 13 years in the school system.

After retirement, they divided their residence between Mora and Mesa, Arizona for 25 years.

Minimum Qualifications: 1) Three years of successful clerical experience and/or experience working with the public or the equivalent, or 2) two years of successful clerical experience in a social services/ human services agency; or 3) two years of experience as a community service aide or similar experience in a private non-profit agency or other public agency; or 4) two years of study at an accredited two or four year college/university or similar institution, with emphasis in the behavioral sciences (at least 23 quarter credits or 16 semester credits). Also, a valid driver’s license.
