A Clients Feedback “Foot Zone has immediate effect on Pain Relief! I had decided to step up an exercise routine doing something my body was nor ready for & ended up dislocating some ribs which resulted in extreme pain and limited movement. After I had a foot zone treatment by Jeanne, I noticed amazing improvement in movement and pain. I know that our bodies can be stimulated to heal themselves and Jeanne is the person to see to help you help yourself”

Our district K-12 art department staff have attended several professional development opportunities lately including the Art Educators of Minnesota fall conference in Rochester, Art Saturdays here in Mora and Amoco Clay’s workshop at Continental Clay Company in Minneapolis. Shown glazing their majolica clay tiles at Continental Clay are art teachers, Judy Broekemeier, Joan Hebeisen and Deb Huberty. Deb is a new addition as our Trailview 3-6th grade art specialist coming to us from Gilbert, MN where she taught K-12 at Mesabi East. Both Deb and Judy have a section of 8th grade art at the high school while Joan teaches 9-12 grade arts courses for the district.
First-Grade Students present reading to staff Fairview first-grade students explore reading in many formats, including song. This group of students sang about “whirling, twirling snowflakes” to the Fairview office staff. The students sang two different songs at the same time in round format and sounded amazing. Who knew reading could sound so lovely and be so much fun?
In January, Mora Community Education held a “How To Avoid Probate” class instructed by John Ahlgren. John discussed options to consider while estate planning. The class was well attended with nearly 50 participants. If you are interested in teaching a class, please call Mandi in the District Office at 320-679-6200.
Over the first semester, Mora High School accounting students have been emailing back and forth with their eMentors who work at Pricewaterhouse-Coopers. PwC is an audit and assurance, consulting, and tax service that is currently the sixth ranked private industry in America based on sales. The accounting students were able to meet their eMentors in person on December 5th at the PwC office in Minneapolis. Student Samantha Wolf said “The eMentors program taught me a lot. Before this experience I had many questions about college, the real world, and what to do to get there. Now, after talking with my mentor, I was able to ask her all of the questions I had. Since I do want to go into accounting after high school having the connection I do with someone from a big company is a great help. Overall mentoring with someone is a great experience for Mora students because we do not get a chance very often, if at all, to meet and talk with someone from the corporate world. I hope the eMentor program will continue in the years to come.” Shelby Kolu, another current accounting student said “I loved participating in the eMentors’ program. It was really nice to have someone who didn’t know me in person who could help guide me and have an unbiased opinion. Hannah, my mentor, told me all about her college experience and gave me a lot of helpful advice. She told me that I didn’t need to have a plan completely figured out and that it was okay to feel a little scared/nervous. I hope the eMentors program continues because it was nice to have an “out-of-Mora” perspective on life. Accounting students who participated with the accounting eMentors program are: Joe Belkholm, Daisy Dixon, Jake Friday, Evan Gardner, Shelby Kolu, Kaitlyn Barnick, Madeline Dopp, Abby Treiber, Anthony Spinler, Jake Anderson, Sam Wolf, Sadie Peterson, Kylee Robb, Ryan Okroi, and Kaitlin Ristow. On MLK Day (January 19), all Mora Public Schools certified staff participated in their annual professional development day. The morning sessions focused on wellness and the afternoon sessions explored educational technology. Many community members helped make the wellness sessions a valuable experience. FirstLight employees, organized by Deb Wright, held a health fair where teachers could learn how to manage stress, rethink portion size, test their BMI, get their blood pressure taken, perform posture exercises, and more. Representatives from First Citizens National Bank, Mike Weinand and Beth Brandt, along with Carl Nordquist from Althoff & Nordquist presented a financial wellness session where teachers learned about credit scores and managing debt. In addition, they were able to ask specific questions about filing their taxes. Dianna Kasprzak hosted a nutritional wellness session that focused on clean eating and included samples from the Healthy Living Organic Market provided by the Mustang Wellness committee. Many teachers stated that the the wellness sessions were the best part of their day. Teachers commented that being able to focus on their personal wellness helps them perform better in the classroom every day. Mora Schools certified staff attend three professional development days during the school year. One during backto-school workshops, one on MLK Day, and another that is being planned for March 6th this year. The staff development committees in each building help plan the days.
These three awesome sisters showed the Mustang Brand at home. Their entire family shaved their heads in order to make a 14-year-old family friend feel better. Their friend is battling leukemia. Kudos for showing empathy and being a great friend. We are proud to have you at Trailview School!
Fifth and Sixth Graders Create Posters for Healthy Choices Mora Above the Influence (MATI) Club for fifth & sixth graders is about making healthy choices and building healthy communities. Fifth & sixth graders above are creating posters to hang around Trailview about making healthy choices. Future events being planned are Feed My Starving Children, Pennies for Patients Fundraiser in Fairview & Trailview and an Above the Influence Week at Trailview.
Since this past October Community Education has sponsored “Traveling Tales” which is a story and craft time for children in local day cares. Jane Oelfke has been going into local day cares to provide story time and a craft pertaining to one of the stories to take home. She incorporates songs and will use finger plays and puppets at times. Jane has become known to the children as the “Story Time Lady” and they are very excited to see her come.
For a list of Community Education offerings, please visit the Mora School Website at www.moraschools.org and click on Community Education (under News/Events & Community) or go to the Webstore. If questions, please call (320) 679-6200.

THANK YOU When we started this hockey tournament six years ago, we had broken hearts and were trying to honor/memorialize a very special person in our lives. It was therapeutic to be around so many people who had been touched by Beau in one way or another. We never dreamed that this event would be as successful as it is! It has become a very fun weekend of storytelling, laughter, friends, family and of course hockey – something that Beau would have been right in the middle of! Thanks to so many people, including the players, spectators and businesses within this amazing community, our hearts have mended back together and are filled with much love and gratitude for everyone. We can’t thank everyone enough for helping us continue to be able to provide scholarships in memory of Beau to the seniors of Pine City High School. There are so many people involved in making this event even possible, from set-up and tear down, to maintenance, food and organizing. You know who you are and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The Berglund Family

Hope Comes Alive Here LIVING H PE CHURCH
L vin Hope Church is full of amazing testimonies! Pastor Steve says, “Our church is full of broken Living Livi people peop pe p that God is restoring including myself. This past year we have seen people healed of many diseases dis isea and sickness. We believe in divine healing and we believe in praying for people who are sick. sick ck God is answering our prayers! We have seen seven people healed of cancer this year. Every week them.” wee we are praying with the sick and we are seeing God heal m.” Not N only is God healing people, he’s transforming people from om the th he inside out as people place their trust in Jesus Christ, devote ote their th he life to following his ways, and sharing their story with th others. Pastor Steve says, “Living Hope is full of stories. God’s ot d’s love lo is transforming lives and making new creations out of people’s old rotten past. Each week I encourage people too p sshare their story with others because when God transforms ourr life, answers our prayers, or heals our body it releases hope h ho oop ope p in int into hopeless eless ssituations ions aand people realize if God did it for them he can do it for me. Those stories become the bridge to sharing about God’s story of redemption. Here are a few of myy friends that God transformed this past year.”
Christy’s Story… If I had known then what I know now, I could have saved myself much pain. In 2009 I was planning plan anning my February uary wedding when I woke up one day with an agonizing pain running down my right leg. After weeks of sleepless nights and hundreds of shed tears I was finally told why. I had herniated two disks in my lower back and I needed surgery. Life was good until 2011. I re-injured my back that led to more pain and two more surgeries. The result put me into a wheelchair and my life dramatically changed for the worse. Around that time, I ran into a lifelong friend who invited me to her church. I figured it couldn’t hurt. Little did I know what God had in store for me. Within months of giving my life over to God, people praying with me, He healed me so I no longer need a wheelchair and I’m walking. Walking! Something I thought I would never do again. Since then God continued to heal my body to the point I can even do a little dance in worship to Him. And it’s not only me, but He’s healed my family. We all can tell a story of his great love for us. My friend may have guided me to Living Hope Church but it is by Christ alone that I am able to stand and tell you that by Him and Him alone you can be healed of whatever ails you. Tom’s Story… Growing up I never went to church. I grew up in a family where we worked every day. Throughout my life, I carried this same idea. Around a year ago, my home life took a drastic change. I was at a crossroads. One morning after showing up for work, I shared with one of my co-workers who also is a great friend of mine, all of my pain I have been going through. This man, a believer in Jesus, sat with me a listened to my story. He said it was time to turn my problems to the Lord and let Him help me. He had and m rch h and told me I should go seee and mentioned a church in Mora with a pastor who used to be at his church v the church that night. visit That night they showed a Billy Graham special and God used itt to change my life. It all started with the message and almost evv everything that Pastor Steve was saying seemed to be m meant for me. He prayed for people that night. Especially those who smoked cigarettes and wanted to be free from them. Wa Walking out of the church, there was something different in me. Afh night, h I never touched h d another h cigarette again. The problems I was having worked out in a way I would d ter that never have imagined. My life turned a total 360 with God in my life. My attitude about so many different thingss changed, my days are much brighter, my outcome much larger, and my eyes are now open. April’s Story… I always believed in a “higher power” but never related it to God. It was something I never er ys understood and I was able to get along just fine without God. Sure, I dealt with what was handed to me, but I always ng off 2013 I felt there was something missing, a hole, an empty space that I was never able to fill or figure out. In the spring f lt a desire d i to t go tto church. h h W h I went through a rough time where my life was being torn apart and everything I tried for help failed me, but I felt When went I thought, “What are people going to think of me; I don’t go to church, and people who go to church are weird and they have no fun.” I think God whacked me upside the head, because the church was the opposite of what I thought. During my visit I gave myself permission to let God into my life. Then His love, His presence, and His people came into my life. That day He started the restoration process! I wouldn’t change anything about my journey; my imperfections are what got me to this place in life, not to mention my ability to find a place for God’s help. Yes, I have a tendency to take a wrong turn here and there, but I love to worship now; praising God is one of the best feelings one could have. I feel His presence. God has enabled me to live in peace, a peace I can only explain as being carefree and exceptionally easy-going without worrying what comes next. I have an excitement about tomorrow because I’ve learned to focus on God, not me. God deserves all the credit for where I am today. No one could ever tell me I needed to go to church, or even speak of religion around me to get me interested, but when I encountered God’s love through Jesus, His church, and His people I’m forever changed!
