at Wild River State Park. The 3 mile trail starts at the visitor center and is suitable for beginner level skiers, snowshoers or hikers of all ages. Equipment can be rented at the park. A state park permit is required for vehicles and those 16 and older must have a Great Minnesota Ski Pass if they plan to cross country ski.

2. Chris’ Food shuts down Pine City store: Chris’ Food Center in Pine City will be closing its doors this Friday, Jan. 31. Employees of the store were given the news on Monday, Jan. 27, and soon after the store posted a note in its window from Chris’ Food Center President Craig Thorvig informing customers that it would close on Friday at 6 p.m. for the last time.

Deputies deal with robbery, fraud in city: Pine County Sheriff ’s Office Sergeant Robert Ouverson said that the most significant crime event in Pine City this past month was the Jan. 1 robbery at Walmart, where a woman grabbed an older woman’s purse, and dragged her across the parking lot before getting into a vehicle.

FEB. 25 PENGUIN PROJECT INFORMATIONAL MEETING Northern Starz first East Central Penguin Project is coming soon. The Penguin Project is a theater program for artists ages 10-22 who have special needs.
