A light snack and refreshments will be served. There is no charge for the reading time.

From 1 to 3 p.m. children ages 6 and older will have the opportunity to made a beaded ring using a basic stringing technique. There is a nominal fee for the kit which includes needed materials and a handout. The craft takes about an hour to complete and children will be able to take theirs home when they fi nish.

MARCH 7 MN MASTER NATURALIST TRAINING Audubon Center of the North Woods in Sandstone is hosting a Minnesota Master Naturalist Volunteer Training beginning Monday, March 7, meeting at 6:30 p.m. for 12 weeks through May 16. Mora Auto Service is a family-run auto repair center, currently located on Union Street in Mora. The auto center will relocate in late November to its new location: the former Nosbusch Auction House at 1381 King Road, nine miles south of Mora off of State Highway 65.

A certified NAPA Auto Care Center, the shop specializes in diagnostic and repair work for domestic and European vehicles including diesel engines. The new location will provide customers with the same quality service while featuring convenient access off and on the highway, and will eventually expand from three to six service bays.

Dave and Tanya Peterson opened Mora Auto Service at the Union Street location on March 5, 2012. “Tanya and I decided to make a job for ourselves,” Dave said. “A friend of ours was a brand-new rookie mechanic, who helped with the business for the first several months. We bought him out, and he moved on to a dealership. He helped the business get started, and we helped him get a start too.”

“When we first started, it was just Dave and me,” Tanya said. “I’d go out and help him, and picked up a wrench. I learned to do oil changes, disc brakes, and hub assemblies.”

“Tanya handles the business end, and deals more and more with the customers,” said Dave. “But she can step in and do quite a bit of my job.”

Dave said that Mora Auto Center plans to hire additional staff. “Because of this move and our additional capability, we’re definitely looking at adding a qualified mechanic or two,” he said.

SHELDON R. BURK Sheldon Russell Burk of Mora died on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016 at the St. Cloud Hospital. He was 75 years old.

He was born July 31, 1940 in B Braham to Russell and Della (Gundersson) Burk. He grew up in several placees in Minnesota fi nally moving back tto Mora in 1948 at the age of seven. He aattended country school at Lowell and W Warman, starting high school in Mora w where he graduated in 1958.

After high school, he enlisted in tthe army for three years, serving one yyear in Korea. He worked for Barton Construction running heavy equipC ment for many years which he truly m eenjoyed. He was united in marriage to Violeta Polamos on June 15, 1996. He V rretired in 2003.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and attending auction sales with his friends. He loved his many dogs that he had over the years. He also liked to feed the deer so he could watch them out his kitchen window. He enjoyed going to the casino and trying his luck at the games. One of his favorite pastimes was driving around the countryside in his Dodge truck.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David and nephew, Daniel Lamp.

He is survived by wife, Violeta; sister, Gloria (Kurt) Oleen; sister-in-law, Mavis Burk; nephews, Bruce (Julie) Burk, Bryan (Debra) Burk, Jeff Lamp; niece, Kim (Tim) Bartz and many other relatives and friends.

His funeral service was held on Saturday, Feb. 20 at Akkerman-Ingebrand Chapel with Rev. Rob Pesola officiating. Music was provided by Pat Fredrick.

Pallbearers were Bruce Burk, Bryan Burk, Jeff Lamp, Kim Bartz, Larry Jones and Tim Bartz.

Honorary pallbearer was Roger Hogstad.

Burial was at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.

Arrangements were handled by Akkerman-Ingebrand Funeral Home.

The contest winners were: $200.00 First Place: Rob Sycks: 2lbs 7oz Northern Pike $100.00 Second Place: Jim Bruce: 2lb Northern Pike $50.00 Third Place: Jim Jrothe: 1lb 8oz Northern Pike The gun raffle of a .22cal pellet rifle was generously donated by Shawn Paul, SNG Services. The drawing was held after the contest at the Fish Lake Resort and won by Dan Greene. A special thank you to Les Stromberg for once again, donating his time conducting our raffle drawings while entertaining the crowd with his Ole & Lena jokes. Another special thank you to Shawn Paul for drilling the holes, weighing and measuring the fish and to the many other volunteers that helped during the contest.
