MARCH 25 MORA COMMUNITY GARDEN ORIENTATION The Mora Community Garden Orientation for new and returning gardeners will be from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in the basement room of the Kanabec County Courthouse.

We offer 10’ x 20’ pre-tilled plots for $15.00/season or 4’x4’ raised beds for $15/season, water on site for no additional cost and a 6’ perimeter fence. The Community Garden is on the east side of Oak Wood Cemetery.

Finally, Mark will share information about ways parents can help children understand ACE’s and their behaviors as well as the behaviors of other children.

Information shared will benefit parents/guardians, daycare providers, teachers, paraprofessionals as well as other adults in a child’s life.

This event is free for the workshop only. Child care is available, for children ages 6 months–10 years old, at a cost of $2.00 per child.

MARCH 26 ANNUAL GIRLFRIENDS NIGHT OUT SCHOLARSHIP FUNDRAISER The Dala Business Women of Mora is hosting their annual Girlfriends Night Out scholarship fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. at Freddies Pine Room in Mora.

MARCH 27 ADVERSE CHILDHOOD EXPERIENCES  SPEAKER Mark Stegeman, a local licensed family therapist will be speaking about ACE’s from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Mora Elementary.

He will explain what they are, how they affect a child’s brain development, and address behaviors of those effected.

He will share ways parents can help children understand ACE’s.

Information shared will benefit parents, guardians, daycare providers, teachers, paraprofessionals and anyone working with children.

Childcare is available for $2 per child at this free event. Preregistration is required by calling 320-679-6257. Deadline to register is March 20.

MARCH 17 MAPLE SYRUP DAY The Audubon Center of the North Woods in Sandstone is hosting it’s annual pancake brunch and maple syrup program from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

As winter gives way to spring, the sap starts flowing in the maple trees. That’s maple syrup time at the Audubon Center. Come join us for our annual Maple Syrup Day - a pancake brunch and hands-on maple syruping program. You will learn which trees in the woods are maple trees, and the history and process of making maple syrup. Then, help us tap some maple trees, collect and haul sap, and observe the sap being processed in to liquid gold maple syrup. Reservations required. Cost $5-$15.
