PIONEER’S MOST PERUSED Last week’s most read stories online
Below are last week’s most read stories on the Pine City Pioneer website at: www.pinecitymn.com 1. Local woman outwits scammer: The voice on Judy’s voicemail message was friendly, but that was just part of the trick. A person calling himself Roy claimed that he was reaching out from Amazon customer support. He gave an employee ID number, and said the call was regarding a purchase made on Amazon for $909.99. 2. Do prescription discount cards work? In a world where scammers prey on older adults, I welcome sharp questions that need good answers. It took me several months to untangle this one: “All those ads on TV, Lisa, what the heck is GoodRx?” 3.) Stolen property found on Henriette Road: A man has been charged with two felony counts of receiving stolen property after he was allegedly found in possession of stolen items at a residence on Henriette Road just west of Pine City. 1. Minnesota Deer Notes —MN Department of Natural Resources: This winter has been particularly mild for Minnesota’s white-tailed deer populations, which can mean more survive through to spring. However, winter severity is not the only factor that contributes to deer survival. 2. Dinner is all rolled up with roulades: With mere minutes of preparation and about 15 minutes cooking time, this recipe for “Chicken, ham, and Swiss roulades” makes a simple weeknight meal that is tasty, too. 3. Hippie receives Lifesaving Valor Award: Ogilvie Fire Department Assistant Chief Jason Hippie received the Livesaving Valor Award for his heroic actions in pulling a man from a burning building earlier this year. Hippie was able to pull the man from the fire, and with the help of a neighbor pull him away from the building and begin emergency medical care. The man suffered burns, but survived the ordeal.
