VIETNAM VETERANS
MEMORIAL
Below are last week’s most read stories on the Kanabec County Times website, www.MoraMinn.com. 1. Famous Tiger King cats find refuge in Sandstone: The Wildcat Sanctuary reports that it has accepted several big cats including tigers, lions and hybrid big cats seized last week by the U.S. Department of Justice from Jeff and Lauren Lowe, the owners of Tiger King Park, made famous by the 2020 Netflix documentary “Tiger King.”
ARRIVING AT BRAHAM: Vietnam Veterans Memorial arriving at Freedom Park in Braham, along Hwy. 107. A dedication Service is planned for June 14 Flag Day 10:30 AM The Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 684 and Braham Veterans of Foreign Wars, Chapter 1731 together are planning the upcoming lasting legacy dedication of this memorial. You are invited to be a part of this memorial to be placed in the south part of Braham Freedom Park. If you are a veteran, please be honored to wear your military uniform at this memorial dedication. This memorial is dedicated to the Vietnam Veterans, and we especially remember the six men that graduated from Braham High School that gave their lives for our freedom. However, any veteran or a family member is welcome to purchase a paver block with the veteran's name, dates of service and rank. Please feel welcome to be a part of this memorial, donations are welcome. Cost of the pavers is $200 with the engraving (name, dates of service, rank, (Medal of Honor, Purple Heart, Prisoner of War all are at no additional charge) included on the paver. Should a contribution be $500 or more, another paver will state the contributors. If you wish to purchase a paver stone, or make a donation, please contact Bob at 651-485-2786 or Rod 763-250-8102. Thank you in advance for your contribution.
2. Ogilvie dentist passes the torch: Longtime local resident and business owner, Dr. Brenda Junnila, DDS, is retiring from her practice at the Ogilvie Dental Office. Her business has been part of the town for over 40 years, and Dr. Junnila has enjoyed her time spent serving the community. The business was sold May 1, 2021, and fortunately for the small town of Ogilvie the office will remain open under new ownership in Dr. Matt Borowicz, DDS. 3. Extra caution needed to fight jumping worms: Minnesota yards and gardens face a serious threat from jumping worms, an invasive species that’s on the rise in Minnesota. Learn more about jumping worms by going to z.umn.edu/JumpingWorms. Are you a current print subscriber? Your subscription includes complimentary access to all of the Times digital content.
