ITEMS FOR SILENT & LIVE AUCTION In April of 2019, Jessica's doctors discovered a brain tumor that was thought to be benign and slow growing. The plan was to remove the tumor and after some recovery time Jessica would be back to her normal self. On July 25th the tumor was removed. Surgery and recovery went well but she was told that it was not the type of tumor they thought it was. After a few weeks of impatiently waiting for the test results. Jessica was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, a cancer of the Central Nervous System. That meant that Jessica's life was going to change drastically.

To everyone who visited at the chapel and attended Vern’s funeral, “Thank You” for your support. Shannon and Jordan, your music and singing was absolutely an amazing tribute. Janet and Denise, your eulogy and readings were from the heart and you made Vern proud to be Uncle to all of you. Thank you, Travis, Kirk, David, Garrett, Vinny and Lily for honoring Vern as pallbearers. Lily, Grandpa has a special place in his heart for you and was proud to wear the “Navy Grandpa” sweatshirt to his eternal rest. Pastor Julie – Vern felt your “poke” back to him. Thank you for your heartfelt tribute to him. Mike, Brady and staff at the mortuary, thank you for your wonderful guidance through the storm. To the nurses and doctors at ANH, you are passionate and caring beyond your responsibilities. *THIS WILL AFFECT THE AMOUNT OF PROPERTY TAX YOU PAY IN 2020, AND IT MAY AFFECT YOUR ELIGIBILITY FOR A PROPERTY TAX REFUND. Have you purchased or moved into a property in the past year? Contact your county assessor to file a homestead application if you or a qualifying relative occupy the property as a homestead on or before December 1, 2019. Applications may also be found online at: http://www.kanabeccounty.org/departments/applications/index.php What is a qualifying relative? For agricultural property, a qualifying relative includes the child, grandchild, sibling, or parent of the owner or owner’s spouse. For residential property a qualifying relative also includes the owner’s uncle, aunt, nephew, or niece. When do I apply? You must apply on or before December 16, 2019. Once homestead is granted, annual applications are not necessary unless they are requested by the county assessor. You are required to notify the county assessor within 30 days if you sell, move, or for any reason no longer qualify for the homestead classification. Failure to notify the county assessor within this 30 day period is punishable by recalculation of tax as non-homestead, in addition to a penalty equal to 100 percent of the homestead benefits.
