Thank you to the individuals, businesses and groups who helped make Moonlight Madness and Santa’s House a success. We have truly amazing people in our community and beyond that helped make this annual event very special to many children and adults. The parade route was longer this year, starting at Trailview Elementary and working its way to the Mora Mini Mall. This was a great way for the residents of St. Clare Living Community and others along the parade route who couldn’t get to town a way to be a part of the fun.

Special thanks goes out to the Mora Fire Department, Brook Park Fire Department, Spring Lake Park-Blaine-Mounds View Fire Department, Kanabec County Sheriff ’s Office, FirstLight Health System and the Boy Scouts for helping to bring Santa into town in a BIG way, Santa for coming to Mora to visit these great kids again this year, Mora Mini Mall for hosting our event, Jake Olson at FishFlix for helping us out, businesses who participated, you have great small town spirit, Neighborhood National Bank and First Citizens Bank for sponsoring the cash drawing winners, Paradise Theatre for sponsoring the movie ticket drawing and last but not least, thank you to all who came out to watch the parade, visit with Santa and shop local. DEC. 6 CHRISTMAS TEA Grace Lutheran Church of Mora invites women of the community to come share an evening of song, story and tea in preparation for the Christmas season at 7 p.m.

DEC. 6 A CHRISTMAS TEA Area senior citizens are invited to the Ogilvie Civic Center at 2:30 p.m. for an afternoon with tea, dessert, friends and a story to enlighten the holiday season. The event is free and open to the public and is sponsored by Ogilvie Community Ed. For more information call 320-272-5003.

DEC. 10 WHITE CHRISTMAS SANTA DAY The Braham Event Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a variety of holiday options available.

From 9 a.m. to noon “Dad’s Belgian Waffle Brunch” will be served.

Children 5 and under eat free with an adult purchase.

There will also be Santa’s Gift Shoppe with something for everyone and helpers available to help children wrap gifts. Elves’ Workshop will be open with children’s activities and photos with Santa will be available with a food shelf donation (or $1 donation).

Mrs. Claus will have a bake sale, there will be holiday music and caroling, a live manger scene and more.

BRENDA’S STORY In October, Brenda suffered from two strokes that affected her right arm and right leg. With therapy she has recovered most of the motion that was affected by the stroke. Brenda is currently in occupational and physical therapy. Results of a PET scan showed that Brenda also has stage 3B lung cancer. Brenda is now home with her family and has started chemo and radiation. Friends and family will be hosting a benefit to offset the costs of medical bills, transportation costs and necessities.

SNG Services is a gunsmith service, licensed firearms dealer, and full-service tool sharpening shop located just south of Mora, Minnesota. Owned and operated by Kanabec County resident Shawn Paul, SNG Services is a local company with a nationwide footprint.

One of a few full-time gunsmiths in Minnesota, Paul has worked in gunsmithing since the 1980s. He likens the workings of a firearm to those of a vehicle. ADVERTISER, DECEMBER 4, 2016 - 19 DEC. 24 CHRISTMAS TOY TRAIN DISPLAY The Kanabec History Center will be featuring local toy train enthusiast Randy Koch as part of the Great Northern Railway Christmas Event. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be in the fire-warmed caboose.

There will also be hot apple cider, Christmas cookies and pop available for purchase in the banquet room. In addition to the train display there will be photo backdrops families can use for a photo shot ($1/family).

On Friday, Randy will run his 50s trains from 6 - 9 p.m. (minimal fee will be charged). The event will also be open on Saturday and Sunday from 1 - 5 p.m.

The annual Christmas Cookie Plate Fundraiser will also be ongoing during event times and during regular Center times, Tuesday - Friday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. until Dec. 11 or until gone.

DEC. 3 BREAKFAST WITH SANTA Come have breakfast with Santa at the fire station in Mora from 7 a.m. to noon. Pancakes and sausages will be served and then have a picture taken with Santa (bring your own camera). A freewill offering will be accepted.

Kids I.D. (fi ngerprints) will be sponsored by Masonic Lodge 223.
