SEPT. 30 CONGRESS COMES TO YOU U.S. Congressman Rick Nolan (MN-08) will have several members of his staff in Mora to discuss matters of interest and importance to area residents.

Staff members will be at the Dala House Apartments-Senior Dining (470 Bean Ave.) from 11 a.m. to noon. From 1 - 2 p.m. they will be at the Kanabec County Courthouse.

SEPT. 30 MORA HOMECOMING TAILGATE PARTY Hot dogs, chips, cookie and pop will be sold for $4 with proceeds to benefit the Mora Incentive Fund.

The party will be located near the ticket entrance of the football field at 5:30 p.m.

OCT. 1 MIND/BODY CONNECTION Mille Lacs Health System will hold a fall wellness event called “Healthy Me - The Mind/Body Connection” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Holy Cross Center at the MLHS campus in Onamia.

An inflatable exhibit of the human brain will be present as an interactive experience with a tour guide with information and facts about the brain.

There will be speakers and half-hour mini classes on nutrition, chair yoga, aromatherapy, etc. See mlhealth.org for more information.

The event is free and lunch will be served. there will be door prizes and a bag of healthy giveaways. Families are invited to attend.

OCT. 1 OKTOBERFEST Zion Lutheran Church in Mora will host an Oktoberfest dinner form 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. with traditional German food. Dick Szyplinsky will provide German music. there will be craft fair items supplied by Zion Lutheran Church members and proceeds will benefit the Mora High School food pantry and Recovering HOPE Treatment Center, both in Mora.

OCT. 3 AUTUMN LANDSCAPE CANVAS PAINTING Mora Community Ed will sponsor a painting class from 6 - 9 pm. in the high school art room. All materials, including a 12” X 16” canvas will be provided. Contact Mandi in the district office to sign up or for more information.

OCT. 3  LAKES AND PINES BOARD TO MEET The board of directors of Lakes and Pines Community Action Council will be holding their annual meeting at 7 p.m. at the Braham Community Center.

Lakes and Pines CAC serves a seven-county area of Aitkin, Carlton, Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs and Pine with anti-poverty programs including Head Start and Early Head Start, fuel assistance, weatherization and emergency food and shelter programs.

The agency will be closed Nov. 11, 24 and 25 in observance of Vetrans Day and the Thanksgiving holiday.

OCT. 9 PINE CITY AREA HISTORY ASSOCIATION The next meeting of the Pine City Area History Association will be held at 2 p.m. in the meeting room of the Pine City Public Library. The topic, “Sauser’s Hardware,” will feature guest speaker Michael Sauser who will share some of the history of his store. The public is invited to bring items related to the topic to share. •A Federal Duck Stamp is required for all persons age 16 and older.

•HIP certification is required for any licensed waterfowl or migratory bird hunter.

•A Minnesota state waterfowl stamp is required for residents age 18 to 64 and non-residents age 16 and over.

(Note: 72 hour licenses include the state waterfowl stamp.)

NON-TOXIC SHOT REQUIRED It is unlawful to take geese, ducks, mergansers, coots, moorhens, or sandhill cranes with lead shot or while having any lead shot in possession.

SEPT. 24 OPEN HOUSE AND RENEW ABLE TRAIL RUN The Audubon Center of the Northwoods invites families to the annual “Autumn at the Audubon” open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Runners are invited to the “Ninth Annual Renewable Trail Run/Walk” with registration/ check in at 8 a.m. Free T-shirts to the first 100 registered participants. A fee will be charged for runners. KEVIN R. REYNOLDS Kevin R. Reynolds of Mora died on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016 at North Memorial Medical Center surrounded by all of his family. He was 38 years oold.

He was born February 18, 1978 in Mora to Mable and Richard R Reynolds Sr. He had been battling Wageners G Granulomatosis for 11 years. Despite th this battle, he was a smoke chaser fo for Mora and the surrounding cities.

H He also had a lot of hobbies, but his fa favorites were hunting, fishing and telling a few good stories. te He donated his body to science in h hopes of helping someone else with th this disease.

He was a wonderful father, son, brother and uncle and will be dearly missed by many.

He was preceeded in death by his father, Richard Reynolds Sr. He is survived by his mother, Mable Reynolds; his children, Paige, Devyn and Haden Reynolds; siblings, Connie (Kenny) Ostenson, Carol (the late Jack) Backlund, Colleen (John) Cox, Richard Reynolds Jr., Virginia (Danny) Strom, Melissa (Scott) Ballard, Nathan (Jocelyn) Reynolds, Harlan Reynolds, Lyle (Crystal) Reynolds, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016 from 1 - 5 p.m. at Mable Reynolds home at 2863 Highway 65, Mora, MN 55051.
