Editorial A new chapter is starting for K.A.NE. organisation and we are very happy for this... a new challenge which will give us the opportunity to come closer to our aims and share the experience of 8 years of national and international youth work. We are at the pleasant position to announce that our brother organisation is on the way to start working in Cyprus. Recently the name was approved and within July they will receive all necessary documents. Wow... it feels nice to grow! I had long time to feel this excitement of starting something new. Taking an initiative is always exciting and scary at the same time. Being a social entrepreneur is even more challenging. Beside the success of your new initiative, you need to have in mind the social impact you will achieve. And achieving a social impact is always difficult. However it is the most rewarding result of your work as youth worker, project manager or founder... We wish Social Development for Youth (or else K.A.NE. Cyprus) to have a strong beginning, sustainability and positive results for the Cypriot youth!

Ted-x Event
As many of you now, the last Saturday of June Ted-X took place in Ancient Messini. Despite of the pouring weather the preparation on Saturday morning went on. Luckily the weather gods where good for the event because after some hours of rain it stopped and the sun showed his merciful face. The beauty of this event had a base in the diversity of the speakers. For many people and for many brains there was something interesting to listen to. From a life changing attack on coworkers to a happy guy in a tutu to a transsexual model with an interesting life story. It was diversely, it was fast and it was good! Let’s not forget that Ted-X can only run because of her volunteers. Ted-X is a platform that makes no profit but trying to survive on the work on voluntarily base. A powerful fist that we can show
in the times that we are living in. With the power of many people we are able to show the money business that we don’t have to rely on money, we have to rely on enthusiasm, the will to work together and the happiness afterward. The day after there was the time to relax, look back on a great event and evaluate the work. Together we joined for the after party at night up in the hills of Verga. With a beautiful view, amazing people and a lot of fun we could say that this years event TedX was a big success. See you all next year!

Mosaic Artist Artist makes geometric paintings You know those beautiful hydraulic tiles that you see around and is wondering how it would have one of these at home, at best retro decorating style? Now imagine if you discover an artist who simply creates the impression that these tiles are there only using spray paint. This is the work of Javier Riba. The artist works with the collective Reskate Arts & Crafts and innovates to bring typical elements of street art for indoors. His creations have as ambient old buildings and usually abandoned, to which he gives new life to paint the tiles you see in the pictures below. The technique used by the stencil is Catalan, which allows the creation of patterns more easily. Just take a look at the result and this perfect geometry. Logic is the science of reasoning, the ability to calculate the right way. Some people have logical reasoning (and mathematical) well developed, so create jobs like the one you saw above.

People, people! This is my last article and in this way I want to say goodbye to all of you! I am here since the beginning of March and in my time here a lot of things happened, a lot of things changed and I make a lot of experience. In the beginning I came together with Stina to Kalamata and we had the chance to discover the city together and we had an amazing start here. After some weeks we go together to the on arrival training and it was amazing! We meet a lot of people and enjoyed the time in Athens.
The most time in Greece I spend at my Wonderful project at Agnes horse riding Place with her Cats, Dogs, and 4 horses. Amalia was a perfect teacher for horse riding Therapy and was every time there for me to help me if I had problems or to give me new ideas and power for my Evs .
I miss the work with the children and the horses very much and I am sure it helped me a lot for my future. It was always nice to see how happy the children are when they see our horse prima and when they success to do a new activity or game. In my time here I see also how much horse riding therapy helps people with disability. It helps them a lot to discover new talents and also to get over a lot of fears, get stronger and confident to have a independent life and to grow their own personality.
But of course I will also miss the EVS life! I liked to travel a little bit around, to life away from home and to build a new family here! I met a lot of amazing people and I found a lot of nice friends who make my time here unforgettable. I already miss you if I start thinking about my last day and I hope to see some of you again.
Greets and hugs to everyone Pupsgesicht

Interview with volunteer Hi Isaline! Where do you come from exactly? What would you recommend to see or to do if someone wants to visit your region?
I come from a little village in south of France called Lauzerte but there is no lots of things to do there so I spend most of my time in Ariege which is a beautiful and peaceful region. It’s a mountainous landscape with natural hot sources, many little villages and lots of mysticals stories about that place. Some people have choose to live in communities managed by themselves, they try to live with less money as possible doing their own vegetables garden, their own cheese etc, and barter their products to live an healthy life all together. There is also lots of castles to visit and many hiking to do on the Cathars trail to discover their story which is really interesting. As well, during the weekends people find themselves in unusual places lost in the mountains or in the forests to do parties all night long always respecting each other and the nature.
What do you like most to do during your spare time? During my spare time I like to spend time with my friends, to go for a walk in the nature. I listen music and I take pictures almost every time I can. What is your favourite place here in Kalamata? I’m here in Kalamata since only three weeks so I’ve still many things to discover but for the moment my favorite place is the Hobo beach. Why did you choose to do the EVS? and why here in Greece? I decided to do an EVS because I want to travel and to learn english, I still don’t know what to study so I think that travel abroad and meet new people can be enriching for myself. In my opinion the EVS is a good opportunity to discover new countries when you don’t have lot of money and feel useful while enjoying.

Nice moment I’ve discover a beautiful place 10 minutes by car from Kalamata’s center called the Hobo. It’s a nice bar open on the beach, there is a young and friendly atmosphere, during the day you can enjoy the sun and the sea by listening latin and intercultural songs, there is also more or less high rocks from which you can jump into the water or just appreciate the view for the people who are less audacious. When the sun goes down, the rhythms of the music are more electronics and then the party beggin, particularly at the full moon, it’s an ideal place to party, to meet new people and to have fun!

Hemorrhoids!!! Hemorrhoids are vascular structures in the anal canal. In their normal state, they are cushions that help with stool control. They become pathological or piles when swollen or inflamed. At this point the condition is technically known as hemorrhoid disease. The signs and symptoms of hemorrhoids depend on the type present. Internal hemorrhoids usually present with painless rectal bleeding, while external hemorrhoids may produce few symptoms or if thromboses significant pain and swelling in the area of the anus. Many people incorrectly refer to any symptom occurring around the anal-rectal area as “hemorrhoids and serious causes of the symptoms should be ruled out. While the exact cause of hemorrhoids remains unknown, a number of factors which increase intraabdominal pressure, in particular constipation, is believed to play a role in their development. Initial treatment for mild to moderate disease consists of increasing fiber intake, oral fluids to maintain hydration, NSAIDs to help with pain, and rest. A number of minor procedures may be performed if symptoms are severe or do not improve with conservative management. Surgery is reserved for those who fail to improve following these measures. Up to half of people may experience problems with hemorrhoids at some point in their lives. Outcomes are usually good.

Kalamata It was just to tell how I feel the general atmosphere in the city before the referendum about Yes or No for Eurozone. One of the first think I have noticed around me, it is that I see frequently people who are waiting in big queues in front of the cash machines.
Indeed, Greeks are limited to taking out a maximum of 60 euros in cash per day from the banks. I have talked to some Greek people from Kalamata and most of them have no idea about what to vote, for them, it will not change anything, they are going to be in a mess.
Some of Greek students are afraid of their future here in Greece, about schools and so on. It is a historical moment for Greece and Europe, it seems that things are going to change from now but we don’t know in what way it’s going to change. For us, EVS volunteers, we are all living something new and this is amazing to live that here in Greece.

28 Reasons to not visit portugal If you ever think about going to Portugal to spend some time, then I strongly suggest you read this article before making your decision. It’s for your own good, really. 1. Portugal is rather dull-looking.

Oh, and also...
Cristiano is obviously sad to see you’re never, ever coming to visit his country. So is Mourinho, but a tough SOB like him would never show his tears.
You’ve probably realized it halfway through this, but I am indeed contradicting myself in this article. And yes, this is on purpose. That’s because Portugal is actually one of the best places you could ever visit! Just ask anyone who’s been there that was in a position similar to yours, or people that actually live there. And yes, you will probably encounter some older people with moustaches, although it’s not as common as before. But not women though! That was just a joke. I hope not...

Help Need
With the Youth Centre opening again its doors to the public, for the 7th period, there are still some things, where we could use your help!!! For the beginning of the workshops, and throughout the year, the Youth Centre needs: * CHAIRS Strange as it may sound, the Youth Center is in need of chairs! As the Youth Centre acquires more and more members, and the use of the chairs is extensive, our poor old chairs are breaking down. As it is, it is impossible to have all the chairs that the workshops need. If you have any chairs that you do not use, or you think that you can spare, you can bring them! * MARKERS for the white board As all of the language workshops make use of the white board, we consume approximately 3 markers per week! * Pens You can never have enough of those! * Computers Unfortunately, the Youth Centre at the moment has only 1 working (almost) computer to be used in the info-point. We need at least 1 more computer to be used in the dance workshops (for now we are using a borrowed one) and 1 more for the outside activities‌ *Volunteers As you may have noticed, most of the time in the Youth Centre, apart from our lovely volunteers from abroad, there is usually also a Greek speaking volunteer around, to give information about the workshops and help in case it is needed. If you want to become and volunteer in the Youth Centre and dedicate 2-3 hours per week to help with the running of the Youth Centre, please, do not hesitate to contact us at: kentroneonkalamatas@gmail.com
