HOW TO BE MORE ECOFRIENDLY DURING FESTIVAL
Rather than hoping the water bottles you buy will be recycled, you could simply not buy them at all. Simply grab a reusable cup and enjoy your drink respectfully to the nature.
Separate the trash Separate bin bags and recycling bags. You do it at home, so why not do it at the festival too?
Carefree days spent sipping on drinks, laughing with friends and relaxing in the sunshine, all to the soundtrack of your favourite music. Who doesn’t love festival season!? The planet, that’s who! If you truly want to get into the festival spirit of celebrating life, then why not celebrate Mother Earth at the same time? Here are our suggestions.
Reusable cups
Glastonbury says that if every attendee uses four paper napkins instead of one, 450,000 napkins get wasted. Just do a mental check; do I NEED this? Rather than trying to find disposable versions of things, think about disposing of them altogether. How clean and perfumed and convenient do things really need to be, at a festival? Make Mother Nature happy, instead. Think of what you really need Green travel Instead of taking a car, check the public transport possibilities. It's cheaper, more eco plus you get to meet up with fellow party people on route.
EXIT
The festival was founded in 2000 in Novi Sad Serbia as a student movement, fighting for democracy and freedom in Serbia and the Balkans. The location of the festival is the Petrovaradin Fortress near to Novi Sad and it lasts for 4 days.

The Guardian listed it in "12 top trips for 2008.”

Hrady CZ (translated as Castles CZ) is a Czech music festival that takes place every summer in several locations in the Czech Republic. The first edition took place in 2005. Main focus is on rock and pop music, it is a place where you can listen to the most famous Czech singers. So far it seems like a typical festival... Its specificity consist in the fact that the performances always take place near some important historical monument, usually a castle or chateau. It's because one of the main aims is to help with the development of tourism, so if you buy a ticket to the festival you can enjoy the music and do some sightseeing as well. ON IT'S BEST
CZECH CULTURE
The festival is responsible not only for the preservation of historical monuments and cultural heritage, but also for the environment. You might not guess it, but the festival generates around 140 m3 of waste every week. That is why throughout the whole festival areas you will find colourful and textmarked bins for sorted waste. Also the reusable cups are provided during the whole event.
This festival is a great chance how to enjoy Czech music and culture with respect to the environment. Don't wait to long and get your ticket!
Ever thought making a baby cry, wrestling with your toe or even chasing after cheese would become a widely celebrated festival? Think again! Some annual events are born from traditional customs or religious rituals, whereas, others emerge from social media trends or even out of sheer boredom. Head down to experience the money madness at Lopburi Monkey Banquet, also known as Monkey Buffet Festival. With the aim to bring good luck to the area and its people, the Lopburi Province north of Bangkok prepares a grand feat comprising 4,000 kilograms of fruits, vegetables, cakes and candies that feed close to 2,000 3,000 macaque monkeys every year.

UNUSUAL AND UNIQUE FESTIVAL EXPERIENCES
During the El Salto del Colacho (Devil’s Jump), men dressed as the Devil wear red and yellow suits holding whips and oversized castanets to jump over babies who lie on the mattresses in the street.
Winters in the North are extremely harsh that you wouldn’t imagine stepping outside without headwear in case your hair freezes! Yet Canada has managed to dedicate an entire festival to creating the most bizarre frozen hair sculptures. Every year, the town of Whitehorse, Yukon holds the International Hair Freezing Contest.
Locals and tourists travel down to Cooper’s Hill situated in the South West England Gloucester region to watch the most unique competition of participants launching down the hill to chase a nine pound round cheese.
Naki Sumo is a 400 year old tradition where you get to witness an entire event based on grown men’s ability to make babies cry! The festival takes place at Sensoji Temple every year in April, where babies are paired up with a sumo wrestler who will then try to make the little ones cry. Ever heard of the World Toe Wrestling Championship?
Every year, the world’s most skilled invisible instrument artists flock to Finland to perform for the Air Guitar World Championship. Participants gear up to play an imaginary rock or heavy metal style electric guitar and are often coupled with loud singing and dancing.
The sport involves two opponents who lock feet in an attempt to pin each other’s foot down in the least time possible, similar to arm wrestling.
KALAMATA STREET FESTIVAL
The main goal of the festival was and is to use and promote the urban spaces, foster social cohesion and validate cultural development of the city. Festival provides space for local artists to express their skills together with the place for creativity and free expression of the participants.
The majority of the workers on the festival are volunteers and with that action Kalamata Street Festival is trying to promote the importance of the youth work and volunteering activities.
BASIC INFO
AS TIME GOES BY... 2009
The festival started on the 25th of October 2009 at Fragolimnas square in Kalamata. The Street Festival was created as part of Kalamata’s Youth Center in collaboration with the School of Second Chance and support of Kalamata’s Cyclists club. Graffiti, skateboard contest, bicycle events, musical programs, face painting for kids, crafts with eco-friendly character, bazaar etc… were the programs of the first festival. After the 8th year, the festival had to move from Kalamata to Aris (a village near to Kalamata). The downside was, that the festival had to move from Kalamata, but the upside is that the area in Aris is much bigger and with this fact the festival have much more space to express itself.
In 2022 the 12th Kalamata Street Festival took place from the 29th of July to the 31st of July. The event offered a lot of activities, such as Zumba, yoga, belly dance, circus acts, a playground for kids, and a bazaar. Besides that, some of Greece’s most famous bands and singers performed for the three days. 12TH KALAMATA STREET FESTIVAL Thanasis Papakonstantinou Spiros Grammenos Do Assodyo Giannis Haroulis Bit gia Bit Rempentehnon Planeta Zeusa, STIHOIMA, Wasilis Rallis, Montes Jura, Eisaggeleas 1st day 2nd day 3rd day
THROUGH THE EYES
A wonderful experience of attending such an event. We had the opportunity to experience more culture and music in Greece. We prepared decorations and activities together. Preparing and promoting the festival integrated us. While promoting the festival, we were able to visit and get to know the inhabitants of various towns and villages. We met volunteers from various countries of the European Union, but also people from outside the EU. A wonderful place close to Kalamata made time during the breaks. We visited many places together. The festival itself was held by the river in the village of Aris. We were able to sleep at the campground next to the river. OF A VOLUNTEER
some time in Aris, where the festival area was located. The river next to the festival area was one of my favorite things. It was the refreshment I enjoyed every day. In Aris, we worked on various things such as painting the panels, that we later put up as signs for festival. We met a lot of local young people and we made many friendships that will last. Festival itself was an amazing experience for a foreigner like myself. I enjoyed food, music and people. Festival was energetic and visited. The atmosphere was on point. I enjoyed my volunteering experience because ive learned a lot about people from Kalamata, and I had the support of 15 amazing people throughout the whole process.I hope I will attend Kalamata Street Festival again .
From 17th of july , I’ve got an opportunity to be a part of a group that contained 16 people from 8 different countries. Together we worked on preparing the well known “kalamata street Wefestival”.spent
